<p>Under the direction of the Director of Early Education, the Assistant Director of Curriculum provides instructional and curriculum leadership for the Preschool program, ensuring fidelity to curriculum, high-quality instructional practice, and compliance with the Department of Education, State Education Department regulations, and DOHMH Article 47 requirements. Directly supervises teachers; leads observation/feedback cycles; ensures IEP alignment and progress monitoring; co-leads professional learning; and partners laterally with the Assistant Director of Social Services & Operations to deliver a coherent Preschool experience for students and families.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Lead curriculum implementation and fidelity checks; maintain alignment with New York State Learning Standards and approved program frameworks. </li><li>Directly supervise teachers, including conducting classroom observations, providing coaching, and completing formal performance evaluations in alignment with agency policy. </li><li>Oversee lesson planning, assessment practices, and progress-monitoring systems to ensure instructional documentation is accurate, complete, and high-quality. </li><li>Maintain systems of accountability (i.e. Team meetings) to maintain full IEP compliance, including mandated related services, one-to-one paraprofessional assignments, and Behavior Intervention Plans. </li><li>Serve as a resource person for staff with regard to procedures and responsibilities when participating in CPSE meetings, including Annual Reviews and Kindergarten transitions. </li><li>Ensure that data collection and assessments are developed and recorded, in order to track progress towards IEP goals. </li><li>Ensure curricular activity remains in compliance with DOE and SED requirements; prepare required instructional documentation for audits and licensure reviews. </li><li>Partner with the AD of Social Services & Operations to ensure family engagement and communication practices align with instructional priorities and support student success. </li><li>Investigate and help resolve parent/guardian concerns, instructional issues, and staff incidents in a timely and professional manner. </li><li>Participate in the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and assignment of instructional staff; recommend methods to strengthen recruitment and retention. </li><li>Enforce instructional and operational structures within the Preschool program and recommend system improvements to optimize staff coordination and use of resources. </li></ul> <p>NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Conduct regular department meetings with staff. </li><li>Provide decision-making support to staff. </li><li>Oversee inventory of curriculum materials and equipment and reviews the material orders for teaching and therapy staff. </li></ul> <p>Formal education required:</p> <p>Master's Degree in Special Education</p> <p>New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administration and Supervision (SAS) required</p> <p>New York State Certification in related field, such as special education, annotations in TVI or Multiple-Severe disabilities, speech and language disabilities, required.</p> <p>Previous experience required:</p> <p>Minimum of five years teaching experience in early childhood special education including classroom, SEIT, and/or evaluation experience.</p> <p>Experience in the 4410 early childhood special education community preferred.</p>
