<p>Job Description:</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Provides effective instruction to elementary school students. Assists pupils in need of help, prepares lessons, tests, and evaluations. Actively participates in committee work (departmental, curriculum, etc.), advisory council work, staff meetings, and conferences with pupils, parents, colleagues, administration and parents.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Adheres to rules, regulations and by-laws of the Board of Education; </li><li>Complies promptly with all administrative directives issued by the superintendent of schools or any administrative subordinate within the scope of his/her authority; </li><li>Maintains a strong working knowledge and application of the philosophy, courses of study, techniques and objectives applicable to the area of specialization and assignment; </li><li>Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the pupil; </li><li>Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to good instruction; </li><li>Ensures parents are accurately informed of student growth and development; </li><li>Participates in the in-service education programs and professional growth activities, including faculty committee and system-wide committee assignments; </li><li>Participates in assignments and activities to promote better school-community relations (parent conferences, activities, etc.); </li><li>Performs other specific duties as assigned by the building administrator. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree required. Preference will be given to candiates holding a valid CT teaching certificate. Academic preparation with emphasis on elementary education; ability to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners. Daily rate of $200 for this assignment. Candidates with a CT teaching certificate will be compensated at $250 per day.
