<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Senior Manager - Engineering will lead our global New Product Development (NPD) team that is responsible for the development of modular integrated data center row and rack-based solutions. They will be responsible for ensuring the electrical and mechanical integrity, interoperability, and compatibility of integrated IT infrastructure systems, including racks, power distribution units, and thermal management components in new product development programs and customer projects. Their team includes groups based in the United States and India and consists of 10+ engineers. The team's responsibilities include 3D modeling and evaluation, validation of Form, Fit, and Function of system integration, and ensuring compliance with established standards and local/regional electrical and construction codes, and product lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will have proficient experience with a multitude of CAD design tools, DMAIC methodologies, and a strong background in either electrical or mechanical design for complex assemblies, BOM creation, and parts and system documentation. They will work closely with cross-functional team members and other Vertiv product line team leaders. They will help assess and find solutions that positively impact production and quality, and lead design reviews with customers, engineering team members and other internal work teams. This position will also support new business inquiries and development activities.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and mentor the cross-functional team in the development and implementation of rack and row-based solutions and associated collateral in a consistent and timely manner, on budget, and of high quality </li><li>Coordinate efforts of international design teams, external suppliers, and consultants </li><li>Maintain a set of engineering KPIs and track team performance and overall success against strategic goals </li><li>Develop and administer engineering tier board, task tracking and resource management tools </li><li>Instruct the team on usage of DMAIC methodologies, including Pugh analysis, Design of Experiment, design and application FMEA, process capability study and root cause analysis </li><li>Assist in creating requirements, development of product roadmaps, and promote ideation and innovation </li><li>Participate in, communicate, and support updates and changes to the "standards playbook" for all relevant stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and timely awareness across engineering, product management, and business unit teams </li><li>Help clarify and adapt existing Vertiv guidelines for system-relevant application and easy implementation in new product developments, and provide feedback from practical design and integration work to drive continuous improvement </li><li>Participate in cross-functional design reviews and work with engineering and product management teams across business units to ensure new product development aligns with requirements, while providing recommendations for improving system interoperability, serviceability, and manufacturability </li><li>Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in mechanical design and system integration </li><li>Support pre-sales team in solution development, quotations, solution presentations to customers </li><li>Manage multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situations arise </li><li>Work directly with Procurement and material vendors on component sourcing and selection </li><li>May oversee and advise on the design and CAD work of others as needed </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>BSEE or BSME or equivalent is required; master's degree or MBA is a plus </li><li>Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical or mechanical design for new product development, preferably within IT infrastructure or related industries </li><li>Familiarity with industry mechanical and electrical safety and EMC standards and regulatory requirements, including ASME, ASHRAE, ANSI, OSHA, ISO, ISTA, UL/IEC 62368-1, IEC 60364, IEC 61000, EN 55032, and NEC </li><li>Experience in 3D CAD modeling, specifically with Creo, experience with Revit and AutoCAD a plus </li><li>Strong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma concepts is required. Formal DfX training or having a Six Sigma Green belt is advantageous </li><li>History of successfully developing, releasing, and maintaining commercial and/or industrial IT products, demonstrating a solid understanding of full product lifecycle management </li><li>Ability to interpret and create customer specification requirements </li><li>Ability to research new designs, technologies and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities </li><li>Demonstrates excellent problem solving and communication skills (written and verbal) </li><li>Work independently and is highly motivated to initiate and accept new challenges </li><li>Exhibit effective planning and information management skills </li><li>Experience working with international teams in China and India is preferred </li></ul> <p>The successful candidate will embrace Vertiv's Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.</p> <p>OUR CORE PRINCIPALS: Safety.
