<p>Department: Temp Center</p> <p>Salary/Grade: TMP/01</p> <p>Position: Temporary Administrative Generalist</p> <p>Hours: This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week/ 9am-5pm / hybrid)</p> <p>Pay: $23.50 per hour</p> <p>Campus: Evanston</p> <p>Approximate start date: 5/11/2026</p> <p>Approximate end date: 10/30/2026</p> <p>Northwestern University is seeking a temporary full-time Administrative Generalist for the Evanston campus.</p> <p>Temporary Job Description:</p> <p>The Administrative Generalist (temp position) provides broad administrative and</p> <p>operational support within the academic and administrative units of McCormick School of</p> <p>Engineering. This role is responsible for supporting departmental operations, assisting</p> <p>faculty, staff, and students, and ensuring compliance with university policies and</p> <p>procedures.</p> <p>The work schedule is hybrid Monday-Friday.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides excellent customer service, over the phone and in person answering </li><li>standard questions regarding status of requests, policies and procedures for </li><li>processing transactions, &/or instructions for completing paperwork. </li><li>Completes & maintains transactions in enterprise systems. </li><li>Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and schedule appointments for </li><li>department leadership and faculty. </li><li>Prepares correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and presentation materials. </li><li>Maintains departmental records, including course files, student forms, and </li><li>confidential personnel documents. </li><li>Supports academic processes such as course scheduling, room reservations, and </li><li>faculty evaluations. </li><li>Assists with student services functions, including communication of deadlines, </li><li>forms processing, and basic advising referrals. </li><li>Coordinates travel arrangements and reimbursements for faculty, staff, and guest </li><li>speakers in accordance with university policies. </li><li>Provides logistical support for department events, seminars, and academic </li><li>conferences. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Required:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree </li><li>preferred. </li><li>Minimum 1 year of administrative experience, preferably in a higher education </li><li>setting. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Familiarity </li><li>with campus systems is preferred. </li><li>Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and time management </li><li>skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across the organization. </li><li>Must demonstrate adaptability to perform effectively in an environment in which </li><li>parameters change frequently. </li><li>Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality </li></ul> <p>Northwestern University seeks to employ a varied and diverse range of dynamic people who understand the importance of our mission and vision.
