We are committed to serving the community and treating our patients as family.</p> <p>As a Special Unit Surgery Coordinator, you will be responsible for all activities related to the successful completion of scheduled and unscheduled surgeries and procedures, as well as patient admissions and appointments. This position supports surgery scheduling for General Surgery and Breast, and also serves as administrative support for the Oncology Vice Chair. You will work in conjunction with physicians and other caregivers to prioritize admissions and appointments and maximize allocated space based on medical needs. This role is essential to maintaining the organization of the general surgery department, allowing caregivers to continue providing the exceptional care patients expect.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ensure accuracy of system-wide master patient index through validation and capture of patient demographic data.</p> </li><li> <p>Validate patient physician information and ensure accurate collection.</p> </li><li> <p>Validate and capture primary, secondary and tertiary insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services and services out of insurance plan or requiring referrals.</p> </li><li> <p>Triage appointments, based on diagnosis, patient preferences and physician specialty.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate services and provide special instructions as requested by patients, internal physicians and referring physicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform scheduling both intra- and inter-departmentally as requested by physician orders.</p> </li><li> <p>Receive orders and processes as indicated by provider and schedules according to protocol.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure accuracy of all data including appropriate CPT coding and case information (side, equipment, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Enter all updates, corrections and changes to scheduled procedures/surgeries.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain provider schedules for designated units and coordinate multiple physician schedules.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as liaison with admitting office regarding hospital reservations, update admission information and cancels reservations.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a resource to all department personnel (surgeons, medical secretaries, nurses, residents, etc.) on daily activity.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with patients and their families to provide detailed instructions, directions and resources available.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School Diploma/GED</p> </li><li> <p>Two years of related experience in an area that provides broad knowledge of medical terminology, including patient registration, patient billing, insurance processing or appointment/operating room scheduling</p> </li><li> <p>OR three years of customer service concierge experience</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of computerized appointment/OR scheduling systems, patient billing, insurance processing or other related office functions to coordinate patient access</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Personal Computers (PC) and general knowledge of PC-based systems and software</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and/or CPT/ICD coding </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Requires frequent standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time.</p> </li><li> <p>Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires manual dexterity to grasp and handle records and to operate PC computer in the course of work and navigate throughout the hospital.</p> </li><li> <p>Normal or corrected vision.</p> </li></ul> <p>Personal Protective Equipment:</p> <ul> <li>Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. </li></ul> <p>Pay Range</p> <p>Salaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
