<p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Work within a small company atmosphere with other marine engineers, naval architects, and designers to solve engineering challenges. </li><li>Projects will span all different types of vessels in the maritime industry, so the role will need to work with designs on ships, yachts, tugs, pleasure boats, passenger vessels, etc., </li><li>Create engineering drawings and schematics for both new construction and refit projects </li><li>Design systems, route piping, and specify equipment appropriate for vessel type & service </li><li>Manage projects, including creating work scopes and schedules, communicating with clients, coordinating technical vendors, and attending project meetings </li><li>Manage the class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval process </li><li>Some travel and fieldwork will be required - engineers must be able to work safely aboard ships and in a shipyard environment, including climbing ladders and navigating walkways, gangways, and confined spaces </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with machinery and systems aboard commercial ships, workboats, tug/barges, passenger vessels, and yachts </li><li>A working knowledge of ship building rules and regulations, as well as classification society and Coast Guard requirements </li><li>Propulsion and steering design knowledge </li><li>AutoCAD competency </li><li>Valid driver's license, passport, and TWIC card (or ability to obtain) </li><li>Currently able to work in the United States </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>5+ years' experience in the maritime industry with marine systems design </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture; or </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering WITH marine industry experience </li><li>Shipyard newbuild or repair engineering, construction, or project management experience </li><li>Experience with class and USCG submittal and approval process </li><li>2D/3D piping systems and equipment arrangement and routing experience </li><li>Hydraulics, controls, and/or electrical knowledge </li><li>Shipboard ventilation and HVAC design and installation knowledge </li><li>Design experience relating to marine structures a plus </li><li>Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate </li><li>USCG license and time sailing on license would be a strong consideration </li><li>Marine Structures knowledge and design would be a benefit, but not required </li><li>Rhino or ShipConstructor software experience </li></ul>
