The Stormwater Division is responsible for managing and improving our local water resources as we work to reduce pollution, prevent flooding, and ensure clean waterways.</p> <p>The Stormwater team is currently looking for a Full-time Utilities Technician at level I, II, or III (depending on qualifications/experience). Please see the Minimum Qualifications section below detailing the training/experience required.</p> <p>Total Compensation Package</p> <p>14 days paid vacation + 10 sick days + 12 paid holidays per year</p> <p>Free Recreation Center Pass (Gym & Pool) </p> <p>No probationary period - $25.34 - $30.97/hour</p> <p>Utilities Technician II - $29.13 - $35.61/hour</p> <p>Utilities Technician III - $30.18 - $40.84/hour</p> <p>Utilities Technician I duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assists with the programs for Maintenance of Condition as related to the water distribution system, reuse distribution system and collections systems</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to main breaks, backups, and repair of utilities systems</p> </li><li> <p>Performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs on equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in major maintenance and repairs to division equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates and maintain construction and maintenance equipment used in the department including as pick-up trucks, tractors, loaders, dump trucks, backhoe, jet truck, CCTV van, utility truck, snow blowers, gas analyzers, shovels, pick-ax, sledge hammers, and hand tools</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides back-up coverage in the operation of snowplows during inclement weather.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as troubleshooter to resolve problems within a particular area of assignment.</p> </li><li> <p>Advises the Foreman, Manager and applicable administrators of potential problems or concerns.</p> </li></ul> <p>In addition, the Utilities Technician II is responsible for the following duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provides on-the-job instruction and orientation to lower-level personnel as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>May train lower-level personnel in the operation of and preventive maintenance on equipment.</p> </li></ul> <p>In addition, the Utilities Technician III is responsible for the following duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assumes lead role to support the Foreman in directing the work of programs for Maintenance of Condition as related to the water distribution system, reuse distribution system and collections systems.</p> </li><li> <p>May assume responsibility for work unit activities during the absence of the Foreman. </p> </li></ul> <p>Technician I: </p> <ul> <li> <p>No experience required</p> </li><li> <p>Within one year, must obtain a Class I Wastewater Collection Certification</p> </li></ul> <p>Technician II: </p> <ul> <li> <p>At least two years of experience in any Utility Division repair and/or operations areas</p> </li><li> <p>Class I Wastewater Collection Certification required</p> </li><li> <p>Within two years, must obtain a Class II Wastewater Collection Certification</p> </li></ul> <p>Technician III:</p> <ul> <li> <p>At least three years of experience in any Utility Division repair and/or operations areas - required</p> </li><li> <p>Two years backhoe experience - preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Some lead/supervisory experience - preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Class II Wastewater Collection Certification required</p> </li><li> <p>Within two years, must obtain a Class III Wastewater Collection Certification</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma/GED - required</p> </li><li> <p>Must be 18 years or older</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record</p> </li><li> <p>Within 6 months of employment, must obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B (must be maintained for continued employment)</p> </li><li> <p>The successful candidate must pass all pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes including interview, reference checks, criminal background checks and pre-placement DOT physical and drug screen</p> </li><li> <p>Able and willing to work on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Specific experience in assigned area preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Work is generally scheduled between Monday and Friday with some weekend and holiday work required.</p> </li><li> <p>Position also involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed. </p> </li><li> <p>Attend meetings as assigned during evening hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical demands are described as very heavy (exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly in order to move objects).</p> </li><li> <p>Required to talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist from the upper body; use hands and/or feet to perform manual tasks such as digging; push or pull; reach with hands and arms; squat; stoop; crouch; and climb or balance.</p> </li><li> <p>Tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel by automobile is required to reach work sites and attend meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires indoor and outdoor activities to include conditions of extreme heat and cold, working in trenches or excavations, and around offensive odor.</p> </li></ul>
