OWDR is seeking a highly motivated intern for the Spring 2026 semester to contribute to workforce development research. The intern will work on two projects: The Apprenticeship Outcomes Literature Review: Identify research related to the impact of apprenticeships on employment, salary, lifetime earnings, and related outcomes. While there is ample research on the impact of college degrees, less exists regarding apprenticeships. We are interested in both peer-reviewed and grey literature. Deliverable: A comprehensive literature reference list in BibTeX format. Project 2: Workforce Data Inventory: Create an inventory of relevant datasets for inclusion in a workforce-focused Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS).The SLDS will enable NYS to make better data-driven decisions about workforce development programs, policy and funding. The SLDS will enable NYS to make better data-driven decisions about workforce development programs, policy and funding.</p> <p>Deliverable: An inventory (spreadsheet or Microsoft List) of relevant datasets, including details such as: Agency Name, Program, Agency Contact, Dataset Description, Potential Linkages (to other datasets), Data Limitations.</p> <p>Enrolled in a relevant degree program such as economics, sociology, public policy, computer science, data science, or a related discipline.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States</p> <p>Be 18 years of age or older</p> <p>Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*</p> <p>Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program</p> <p>Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent</p> <p>Preferred Skill sets:</p> <p>Research: Experience conducting literature reviews using academic databases and search engines; ability to identify and evaluate relevant sources (peer-reviewed articles, grey literature). Data: Basic understanding of data and data systems; ability to identify and categorize different types of data; comfortable</p> <p>comfortable working with spreadsheets. Strong written communication skills for summarizing research findings.
