<p>The DRT performs routine to moderately complex radiographic examination procedures. These exams are achieved by using diagnostic x-ray equipment such as fluoroscopic units and general diagnostic units. Direct radiography (DR) and digital imaging are used to capture and process images. The images are then stored digitally in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). The purpose of all these exams is to achieve diagnostic studies to bring about proper diagnosis and treatment.</p> <p>VA Careers - Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist: https://youtube.com/embed/I-4ku5UMvWM</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>Duties include but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Interacts with Veterans, family members, caregivers, providers, and other staff either in person or by phone in the daily duties of the Radiology Department. </li><li>Assists Radiologist during fluoroscopic examinations. </li><li>Practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patient, staff and self. This is achieved by the use of lead aprons, lead gloves, lead shields, lead-lined walls and collimation. The technologist assures compliance with radiation regulations for all staff including the wearing of film badges. The technologist must also be aware of and practice the safety policies/procedures of the facility and participate in quality assurance activities as directed. </li><li>Performs imaging using direct radiography (DR). </li><li>Maintains records and files of exams performed on patients. Edits and when necessary registers patients in the computerized Radiology Information System (RIS) as well as the work list management portion of the HIS-RIS interface (VISTA). Presents completed examinations for interpretation, entering all pertinent information on records as well as documenting fluoroscopy doses on an electronic log sheet. </li><li>Confirms patient identity by verbally confirming two approved patient identifiers (such as patient name and full date of birth). </li><li>Practices infection control according to the Radiology Department policy and facility MCM. Utilizes PPE as necessary. </li><li>Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) credentialing as required. </li><li>Incumbent will display a cooperative attitude and will effectively work together to implement the organization's mission and goals. </li><li>Incumbent will ensure productivity is maintained at the established level for the program for which he/she is responsible. </li><li>Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. Protects the data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. Follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:30 am- 4:00 pm</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Telework: Not Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 70180F</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p>
