<p>Would you like to work with a global company and use your media relations skills to move the needle on important risk management topics that ultimately help our world be more resilient?</p> <p>We are looking for a Senior Media Relations professional who will help position Swiss Re as a leading risk knowledge company with strategic and creative media coverage. If you also have excellent storytelling, writing and editing skills and experience in the financial sector, let's talk!</p> <p>About the Role</p> <p>In this fast-paced and highly visible position, you will create and drive impactful earned media strategies across the United States and Canada, with additional oversight of media activities in Latin America. Working closely with senior executives, topic experts, Marketing colleagues and teammates across the globe, you will champion Swiss Re's voice externally through trade, business, and mainstream media.</p> <p>You will play an important role in showcasing Swiss Re key business topics across all business units:</p> <ul> <li>Property & Casualty Reinsurance </li><li>Life & Health Reinsurance </li><li>Swiss Re Corporate Solutions </li></ul> <p>You will report to the Head of Communications for the Americas, coordinate closely with global colleagues and help to ensure regional priorities and nuances are accounted for.</p> <p>Main tasks</p> <ul> <li>Strategic media relations support: Together with the US and global Communications teams, develop media plans and approaches that support business priorities and help influence conversations about issues important to Swiss Re and to overall global risk management issues. </li><li>Media outreach and placement: Leverage existing media relationships and build new ones with key journalists and editors across broadcast, print and digital platforms. Proven ability to secure coverage in top-tier outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, New York Times and CNBC. </li><li>Storytelling expertise: Create and shape newsworthy narratives that go beyond 'canned messaging' - deliver Swiss Re stories in a way that resonates with journalists and audiences. </li><li>Communications counsel: Advise Swiss Re leadership on communications approach, and provide counsel on broader framing and messaging, develop media briefings and provide steering and coaching. </li><li>Regional execution with global connection: Oversee media activities that support three Swiss Re business units, tailoring regional stories while aligning with global themes. </li><li>Responsive and proactive approach: Act as a senior media spokesperson for Swiss Re in the Americas. Collaborate on emerging issues and crisis management, regulatory matters, transactions, and other Group topics. Help to monitor the news cycle and act quickly to insert Swiss Re into the conversation, as advantageous. </li><li>Media guidance for Latin America: Provide strategic guidance and coordination support to Latin American media relations colleagues. </li></ul> <p>About the team</p> <p>You will join a professional and highly motivated global Communications Community that is committed to delivering impact and driving differentiation for the Swiss Re Group. You have understand financial markets, media dynamics, and corporate storytelling - and know how to make complex topics accessible and relevant. You're energized by working with senior leaders and navigating cross-functional teams.</p> <p>You'll also need:</p> <ul> <li>10+ years of experience in media relations or journalism - preferably within financial services, insurance, or risk-related sectors. </li><li>Strong working relationships with editors and journalists at top tier publications such as Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, NYT and CNBC. Relationships with re/insurance trade publications a plus. </li><li>A proactive, results-oriented approach with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects under tight deadlines. </li><li>Strong strategic thinking, savvy sense of judgement plus ability to confidently engage with senior leaders. </li><li>Familiarity with the US and Canadian media markets; experience with Latin America is a strong plus. </li><li>Outstanding writing and storytelling skills with ability to convert complex content into compelling messages </li><li>Experience managing brand reputation and crisis communication, particularly in a highly regulated industry. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written command of English; additional fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is advantageous. </li></ul> <p>We are looking forward to your application!</p> <p>We provide feedback to all candidates via email. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
