<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Establishes, maintains, checks, inspects, evaluates and follows preventative maintenance programs as directed by the director of Biomedical engineering. Must be able to maintain and repair all types of medical and selected non-medical equipment; assist medical, nursing and support staff in the training, operation and use of equipment. Other areas of responsibility include IT Medical Networks, Video Conferencing and Audio Visual needs of the hospital.</p> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:</p> <ul> <li>Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and repair medical instrumentation that is in the biomedical engineering inventory with accuracy and precision. </li><li>Repairs to equipment are completed to minimize the number of return calls, work time and overtime. </li><li>PM's, electrical safety and operation verification procedures are conducted according to regulatory agencies and manufacturer requirements. </li><li>Works with inspectors from Federal, State and outside regulatory agencies. </li><li>Knowledge of rules, regulations and safety procedures when working in various areas of the facility. </li><li>Major equipment failures are handled according to department and hospital policy and are legible, factual and complete. </li><li>Work is completed so that quality inspections are judged to be very good. </li><li>Perform the assigned number of preventive maintenance procedures in a timely manner with the proper documentation. </li><li>Completes all written reports requested within twenty-four hours unless otherwise directed. </li><li>Completes daily-required documentation and computer entries prior to the end of the work shift. </li><li>Work orders for general repairs are completed within the appropriate timeframe established by the director of the department. </li><li>Demonstrates the use of personal computer skills and appropriate software. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to assume all on-call responsibilities according to the hospital policy for being on call. </li><li>Takes periodic inventory of stock and requisitions supplies as needed, to maintain adequate supply for the department. </li><li>Maintains work and storage areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, following prescribed safety regulations. </li><li>Coordinates various functions of outside vendors and contractors. </li><li>Coordinates and participates in various hospital systems shutdowns when required by the hospital. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to maintain on various types of audiovisual and video conferencing equipment throughout the facility. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to maintain various types of sterilization equipment throughout the facility. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to maintain various types of medical IT networks and equipment throughout the facility. </li><li>Performs all other related duties as assigned 23. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or Information Technology is preferred. </li><li>Required is an AAS degree in electronics, IT, biomedical technology, or military equivalent. </li><li>AAMI certification and previous experience in a healthcare environment preferred. </li><li>A valid driver's license is required for on-call responsibilities and use of the Hospital vehicles. </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies</p> <ul> <li> <p></p> </li><li>Excellent Customer Service Skills <p></p> </li><li> <p></p> </li><li>Team Player acts as a professional role model <p></p> </li><li> <p>Excellent Communication Skills (written/verbal)</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to Multi-task</p> </li><li> <p>Uses downtime to enhance department organization and self-learning</p> </li><li> <p>Strong problem solver, judgment and decision making skills</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates the ability to assess conditions and respond appropriately</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to prioritize urgency of job request (work orders or calls)</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates the ability to prioritize daily routine work assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to difficult situations so as to minimize hazardous conditions and incidents.</p> </li><li> <p>Informs management staff of problems or potential problems in a timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates resourcefulness in applying problem solving techniques.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environmnet</p> <ul> <li></li><li>May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. </li><li>Must be physically capable of performing necessary job duties and be able to visually and audibly determine any discrepancies. Must have physical dexterity, coordination and stamina to perform job tasks, which involve climbing ladders, using and operating the tools and machines necessary to perform job duties. </li><li>Must be able to carry heavy objects, stand sit, bend, stoop and walk for extended periods of time in order to perform the outlined duties properly and safely. </li><li>Ability to travel to and from different physician practices as needed with minimal notice to provide service </li><li>Must be able to work in environment with continuous interruptions </li><li>Must be able to assess and respond to rapidly changing situational needs of patients, department and hospital </li><li>Must be able to adapt in a high stress and fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions </li><li>Must be able to respond to emergencies at all times </li><li>Must be able to constantly operate computer, equipment and other devices </li><li>Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruptions and attend to tasks. </li></ul> <p>Primary Population Served</p> <p>Check appropriate box(s) below:</p> <ul> <li>Neonatal (birth - 28 days) </li><li>Patients with exceptional communication needs </li><li>Infant (29 days - less than 1 year) </li><li>Patients with developmental delays </li><li>Pediatric (1 - 12 years) </li><li>Patients at end of life </li><li>Adolescent (13 - 17 years) </li><li>Patients under isolation precautions </li><li>Adult (18 - 64 years) </li><li>Patients with cultural needs </li><li>Geriatric (> 65 years) </li></ul> <p>â˜'All populations</p> <ul> <li>Bariatric Patients with weight related comorbidities </li><li>Non-patient care population </li></ul> <p>The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of White Plains Hospital.</p> <p>Salary Range: $67,452.65-$101,157.23</p>
