<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Fitchburg State University Upward Bound Math & Science is committed to empowering first-generation and low-income high school students through the Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) program. Our summer program aims to strengthen students' academic skills, build confidence, ignite their curiosity, and inspire interest in STEM fields.</p> <p>We are seeking enthusiastic and creative summer instructors to teach Math and English courses using a project-based learning (PBL) approach. Instructors will promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativy in order to enhance and develop understanding in various content areas.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Guide students through inquiry-based projects from conception to completion. </li><li>Develop and deliver interactive lessons in Math / English topics. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and program events as needed. </li><li>Assess and evaluate student performance through project outcomes, team meetings, and reflective discussions. </li><li>Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles. </li><li>Act as a mentor and positive role model for students, encouraging their academic and personal growth. </li><li>Track and document student progress through pre- and post-assessments. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field in the content area required. </li><li>MA DESE licensure (or equivalent) </li><li>Teaching experience with high school students - PBL experience is a plus </li><li>Passion for working with disadvantaged populations </li><li>Bilingual ability is a plus </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Summer Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Program Dates: June 20 - August 1, 2025 </li><li>Mondays - Thursdays: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm lunch provided </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <ul> <li>$3500 to teach three classes </li></ul> <p>Fitchburg State University strongly recommends that all employees are vaccinated against COVID-19 before they begin employment.</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Please click CONTACT US if you need assistance applying through this website.</p> <p>Please click here to login to check/edit your profile or to upload additional documents.</p>
