<p>Under the general supervision of the Director of the Adult Learning Center, the Part Time High School Equivalency Program (HEP) Instructor is responsible for the day to day classroom instruction, implementation of adult education curriculum, and assisting with outreach planning, and student data collection for reporting purposes.</p> <p>Essential Functions/Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals. </li><li>Teach group GED classes as requested or needed by students or the ALC Director </li><li>Provide individualized instruction in Spanish (bilingual) for Adult Basic Education and GED students, and instruction online as needed; </li><li>Recruit potential students, provide thorough information to them, assist in application process; </li><li>Assist students by completing appropriate forms, administering assessments, and explaining procedures for obtaining a GED </li><li>Maintain accurate student file folders and data for federal/state reporting purposes; assist with student tracking and follow-up; </li><li>Assist with State and Federal reports, which will include quarterly, online meetings, etc.; </li><li>Plan support service events such as campus visits, cultural events, and health screenings'; </li><li>Work with main campus to transition GED completers to college classes </li><li>Attend conferences and meetings which will enhance instruction and professional development; </li><li>Obtain and maintain KAEA credentials; attend appropriate staff development activities and meetings </li><li>Tutoring one-on-one, small group with students needing help (pre-GED, GED, ESL, etc.) </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Basic Education or Director of TSH HEP/ISSC. </li></ul> <p>The above job description supersedes all previous descriptions. Administration has the right to add to or change the job responsibilities to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods at any time.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma </li><li>Must have the ability to teach in the Spanish language </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, work with, relate to, and teach diverse populations in a multicultural setting. </li><li>Ability to keep confidential records, gather data, compile information and prepare accurate reports. </li><li>Ability to appropriately exercise independent initiative and judgement. </li><li>Excellent computer skills and recordkeeping abilities. </li><li>Effective interpersonal, communication and public relations skills. </li><li>Ability to use classroom technology for online instruction. </li><li>Willingness and ability to work as a member of a team. </li><li>Must obtain and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associates or Bachelor's degree </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements: With or without assistance</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds over 25 feet. </li><li>Ability to hear informational speaker in conversational voice at distance of 10 ft. and on telephone. </li><li>Ability to speak clearly and audibly to others at 10 ft distance and on the telephone. </li><li>Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position. </li><li>Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time. </li></ul> <p>Building Assignment</p> <ul> <li>Adult Learning Center - 700 Ave G </li></ul>
