<p>Duties</p> <ul> <li>FY26: Plan and manage the development of a DeKalb ROE Safe School in collaboration with county school districts for full implementation in FY27 when the school opens (behavior management system, technology, policies and procedures, facilities, fiscal planning, student eligibility and intake process, etc.) </li><li>Starting in FY27: Serve as the Building Principal for the DeKalb ROE Safe School grades 6-12 </li><li>Maintain a safe, supportive and effective learning environment for less than 50 students that is student-centered, differentiated, and rehabilitative </li><li>Manage daily operations, accountability, policy and procedures of the staff </li><li>Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, evaluating, and retaining the staff </li><li>Manage applicable grants including application, deliverables, data collection, program evaluation, reports, program expenditures and budgets </li><li>Be a visible and engaged leader who understands the DeKalb County school systems, the communities, and resources </li><li>Build and maintain positive relationships with Safe School staff, DeKalb County school personnel, community members, and families including professional communications </li><li>Establish and enforce safety and emergency procedures </li><li>Engage in continuous improvement of all operations </li><li>Design, prepare, and deliver information in large, small-group, and individual settings </li><li>Build skills by participating in conferences, workshops, and meetings </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field </li><li>Valid Professional Educator License with a General Administrative or Principal endorsement </li><li>Teaching experience: At least 3 years of successful teaching experience </li><li>Administrative experience: At least 2 years of experience in leadership at the department, program, building, district, or regional level </li><li>Qualified to conduct Teacher Performance Evaluations (or complete training) </li><li>Background in organizational culture and management of challenging student behavior </li><li>Experience working with a variety of stakeholders including families </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks with prioritization and problem-solving skills </li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills </li><li>Proficient technology skills </li><li>A team-oriented attitude and a strengths-based approach </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of records </li><li>Pass a Criminal History Record Information fingerprint check </li></ul> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>Call Amanda Christensen at the DeKalb ROE with questions. 815-217-0460</p> <p>Reports to: Assistant Regional Superintendent and Regional Superintendent</p> <p>Work schedule: 11 month position / 240 day work calendar</p> <p>Compensation: Regionally competitive salary; TRS position; paid holidays and sick time; health insurance supplement</p> <p>Location: Office station at the ROE; Safe School location TBD</p> <p>Link to District/Third Party Online Application Web Page</p> <p>https://www.applitrack.com/dekalb/onlineapp/default.aspx?choosedistrict=true&applitrackclient=37361</p> <p>Email Address</p> <p>achristensen@dekalbcounty.org</p> <p>School District</p> <p>https://dekalbcounty.org/departments/regional-office-of-education/</p> <p>ILearn Link</p> <p>ILearn</p> <p>Report Card Link</p> <p>Illinois Report Card</p> <p>Job Posting Date</p> <p>3/7/2025</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>3/28/2025</p> <p>Start Date</p> <p>7/1/2025</p>
