<p>The Department of Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a full-time, board-certified or board eligible Internal Medicine faculty to expand and enhance clinical services, research, medical student and resident training in Internal Medicine. This faculty will be a part of the Division of General Internal Medicine within Department of Medicine. The faculty body of the department comprises of a diverse group of community faculty as well as faculty employed by the medical school. The Internal Medicine residency program has 36 residents and Medicine Pediatric residency program has 16 residents, and is fully accredited with all subspecialty care and tertiary care capabilities.</p> <p>To share this posting, please use this link.</p> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <ul> <li>Wellness reimbursement. </li><li>Continuing education and tuition reimbursement. </li><li>Employer-funded retirement plan. </li><li>Two medical plan options: PPO and High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with employer HSA contribution. </li><li>Up to $6,300 annually for professional development. </li><li>Starting bonus (as applicable). </li><li>Professional liability insurance coverage. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>All General Internal Medicine faculty participate in the education of medical students and residents, ongoing scholarly activities, and clinical services in the Internal Medicine clinics and inpatient hospital-based services which are supported by full-time medical social workers, dieticians, and dedicated nursing staff.</p> <p>Additional responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Participating in the systems of quality improvement, utilization review, and outcomes management. </li><li>Participating in inpatient academic internal medicine clinical service. </li><li>Working closely with the department chairs for: </li><li>Recruitment, selection, supervision, education, and evaluation of resident physicians. </li><li>Strategic planning. </li><li>Regular participation in department and medical school meetings. </li><li>Providing high-quality instruction for medical education of students and residents as determined by the department chair. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the department chair. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Candidates must have an MD/DO and strong interest and passion for medical students, resident education, and scholarly activities in addition to being a superb clinician. Leadership and organizational skills are desirable. The candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine and be eligible for full licensure to practice in Michigan.</p> <p>Additional opportunities to formally engage in undergraduate medical education may be available, based on individual interest, expertise and need.</p> <p>WMed offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
