<p>Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer in Columbus, IN</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team due to project demand for 2025. The initial project involves supporting a communication bridge for a new Forklift Product. The device interacts with data between two CANBus systems. Initially, you will be in a supporting role, but there will be opportunities to take ownership of projects moving forward.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support the testing of fork trucks, which may require the use of test equipment or driving the forklift. </li><li>Collaborate in a hybrid role with an emphasis on being in-office, especially during the first few months (5 days a week onsite). </li><li>Develop and maintain embedded software applications using Embedded C programming. </li><li>Work with vehicle communication protocols such as CANopen or J1939. </li><li>Utilize test instrumentation and data acquisition tools. </li><li>Contribute to multiple work streams and eventually take ownership of projects. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Engineering degree. </li><li>2-7+ years of experience in Embedded C programming. </li><li>Experience with bare metal systems and knowledge of RTOS. </li><li>Application design experience, preferably from a smaller company with diverse job functions. </li><li>Experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CANopen or J1939, or other communication protocols (TCPIP, serial communication protocols). </li><li>Ability to write and architect complete embedded applications. </li><li>Capability to operate and drive a forklift for hands-on testing. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with control systems software (state machines, programming patterns within controlling things). </li><li>Proficiency with version control systems like GIT. </li><li>Python scripting experience. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The role is primarily based in an office environment, but may require visits to the test area. The position is hybrid with an initial emphasis on being onsite for 5 days a week to facilitate team collaboration and project familiarity.
