<p>The Director - Quality and Patient Safety Officer is responsible for the organization and delivery of a comprehensive framework for safe and reliable operational excellence across Baptist Health Care. The position oversees the shaping and sustainment of a culture of safety in order to advance safe, reliable and effective patient care thereby improving the patient's experience. Key to this individual's efforts is the engagement of practitioners, team members, patients and their family members. The position is also responsible for oversight of the organization's quality management system, as well as the infection prevention, accreditation, process improvement, and patient experience programs. As a champion and mentor for quality and safety, the Director partners to develop and execute a strategy that positions the organization as an industry leader in quality, safety and process improvement. The position spans all aspects and clinical areas and is responsible for the overall direction, leadership and operational management of the quality and safety programs.</p> <ul> <li>Serves as Patient Safety Officer providing leadership and direction to the organizational patient safety strategy in order to mitigate and correct unresolved high-risk practices. </li><li>Enhances the safety and well-being of patients and team members through the proactive analysis of patient safety, medical errors, human error, and complex systems (including root cause analysis, common cause analysis, and failure modes and effects analysis). </li><li>Serves as the organization's designated Quality Management Representative to ensure the requirements of the Quality Management System are determined, implemented and maintained. </li><li>Acts as internal consultant to the quality and patient safety committee of the board, leaders, team members, and practitioners in matters of quality, safety, regulatory and process improvement. </li><li>Ensures the development of surveillance systems to identify and mitigate potential patient harm and hospital-acquired conditions. </li><li>Oversees activities and goals related to the Baptist Health Care infection prevention program to reduce the spread of infection to team members, patients, and visitors. </li><li>Provides administrative oversight of the accreditation program and adherence to all CMS, AHCA, DNV and ISO 9001 standards and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Proactively educates leadership, practitioners and colleagues regarding regulatory issues, new statutes/guidelines, and safety/quality activities using various formats including external surveys. </li><li>Identifies opportunities for improvement based on evidence-based practices, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements and monitoring of error prone processes. </li><li>Oversees and provides direction for the process improvement program, to include ensuring compliance with CMS QAPI requirements. </li><li>Leads in developing, directing and coordinating innovative, multidisciplinary quality initiatives across Baptist Health Care that incorporate national best practices, drive down variation, decrease costs and create efficiencies. </li><li>Facilitates alignment between improvement initiatives and the organizations strategic plan. </li><li>Creates an environment that fosters innovation and performance, supporting the implementation of programs that continuously advance clinical outcomes and patient safety. </li><li>Oversees the organization's audit plan for high-risk, error-prone clinical processes, in accordance with ISO9001:2015 standards. </li><li>Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission. </li><li>Manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. </li><li>Is responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. </li><li>Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources. </li><li>Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff. </li></ul> <p>Experience: 5 years of progressive leadership experience in relevant programs within a complex health system with oversight of inpatient and outpatient settings, required.</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree in health care administration, health care management, nursing, or related field, required.</p> <p>Licenses/Certifications: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ-NAHQ) within one year of hire is required, AND Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS-CBPPS) within one year or hire is required, AND licensed medical doctor, OR Registered Nurse in the State of Florida is required.</p>
