<p>Job Summary: The Sonographer Assistant-Unlicensed works under the direct supervision of a credentialed staff Sonographer or Cardiologist, performs designated direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care. Follows policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines in all aspects of job duties. Meets qualifications and competencies as identified in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Prepares the patients, equipment, and supplies prior to exams. Performs the requested cardiac ultrasound examinations as prescribed in protocol. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in safe patient care and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Must achieve and maintain good academic standing in sonographic program. Performs other duties as needed.</p> <p>Education and Experience: Currently enrolled as a second year student at Loma Linda University School of Allied Health in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.</p> <p>Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of Ultrasound procedures and operating Ultrasound equipment. Follows directions and seeks clarification when necessary. Able to read, write legibly, speak in English (and Spanish preferred) in person, in writing, and on the telephone with professional quality; use computer, printer, fax, software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to relate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction. Able to think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Uses independent judgment and initiative. Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.</p> <p>Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association required.</p>
