<p>Upper Valley Career Center</p> <p>Position Announcement</p> <p>Open Position: Medical Careers Academy Instructor</p> <p>Location: Upper Valley Career Center</p> <p>Employment Begins: August 14, 2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: May 19, 2025</p> <p>General Job Description:</p> <p>Upper Valley Career Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate Medical Careers Academy Instructor to teach high school students. The instructor will deliver engaging instruction aligned to state and industry standards, giving students a solid foundation of knowledge in the healthcare pathway. The instructor will collaborate with the co-teacher to create lessons, provide hands-on training in clinical settings, and foster a supportive learning environment to ensure students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to gain employment in the medical field and prepare for higher education.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the program runs efficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop lessons that align with state and industry requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Deliver engaging instruction that promotes active learning and meets the needs of all students.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide clinical training to equip students with the skills necessary to gain certifications and employment.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise students during clinical rotations, ensuring a high standard of patient care and professional conduct.</p> </li><li> <p>Foster a positive learning environment to motivate students to achieve success.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise and assess student progress and performance, provide feedback, and support student growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish and maintain relationships with industry professionals.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate record-keeping of student information and ensures confidentiality.</p> </li><li> <p>Embodies high ethical standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in district initiatives and meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must complete all requirements for teacher education and licensure.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience as a nurse.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 1 year of experience in a long-term care setting per the Ohio Administrative Code 3701-18-09.</p> </li><li> <p>Must hold a Bachelor's degree; a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Holds a current, unrestricted Ohio license to practice as a Registered Nurse.</p> </li><li> <p>Train the Trainer credential to teach a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Has a strong desire to work with and develop students.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to actively manage a classroom/lab and monitor student behavior.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work with a teaching partner to develop lessons and provide instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and maintains professional relationships with students, peers, families, and industry professionals.</p> </li><li> <p>Possesses excellent social skills and serves as a role model to students.</p> </li><li> <p>Has strong oral and written communication and classroom management skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Displays effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educator qualifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets all mandated health screening requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.</p> </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Appropriate placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $51,017.00 ( Class II, Step 0) to $84,160.00 (Class V, Step 10). Base contract is 187 Days. Minimum workday is 7 hours per day exclusive of a lunch break . One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.</p> <p>Other Benefits:</p> <p>State Teachers Retirement System, Worker's Compensation, paid sick/personal leave, partial tuition reimbursement, and tax-sheltered retirement contributions. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance offered. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.</p> <p>Performance Evaluation:</p> <p>Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.</p> <p>This job posting description identifies general responsibilities and is not intended to be a complete list of all duties performed.
