<p>Department</p> <p>Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals</p> <p>Division</p> <p>Trades</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$23.26 - $24.30</p> <p>Job Profile</p> <p>JC-02239300-64 - Heavy Motor Equipment Operator (LIUNA - RILDC Local 808 BHDDH Zambarano)</p> <p>Scheduled Work Days & Work Hours</p> <p>Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm</p> <p>Standard 40.0</p> <p>Job Requisition Number</p> <p>JR102633 HEAVY MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (Open)</p> <p>Pay Grade</p> <p>C03114 G</p> <p>Classification</p> <p>Heavy Motor Equipment Operator</p> <p>Class Definition</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To operate, adjust, service and maintain a variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment, except power shovels, such as: graders, bulldozers, road rollers, power sweepers, hydrocranes, front end loaders, and truck and trailer units, etc; and to do related work as required.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives specific instructions from a superior who assigns duties and indicates work methods and schedules.</p> <p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Usually none, although occasionally may direct the work of one or more manual laborers.</p> <p>ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:</p> <p>To operate, adjust, service and maintain a variety of heavy construction and maintenance equipment, except power shovels, such as: graders, bulldozers, road rollers, power sweepers, hydrocranes, front end loaders, and truck and trailer units, etc.</p> <p>To be responsible for: the motor equipment assigned for performing tasks; reporting necessary repairs; keeping equipment clean; and maintaining proper servicing, such as fuel, oil, grease, water and air.</p> <p>Occasionally, to make emergency minor repairs to equipment.</p> <p>As required: to operate equipment such as light trucks, compressors, and other light equipment; or to work as a Motor Equipment Operator; or to perform manual labor.</p> <p>To do related work as required.</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT:</p> <p>KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A thorough knowledge of the state laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles on the highway; skill in the operation and routine maintenance of all types of heavy motorized equipment, particularly bulldozers, graders, hydrocranes and similar types of heavy equipment; a familiarity with general construction and maintenance methods employed on highways and other public works; the ability to make ordinary emergency repairs to heavy construction motor equipment; and related capacities and abilities.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Education: Such as may have been gained through: completion of eight school grades; and</p> <p>Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment as a operator of heavy diesel and gasoline motor equipment and trucks such as are used in highway maintenance and construction.</p> <p>Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of the proper operator's license issued in conformance to requirements of the Rhode Island Registry of Motor Vehicles to operate above-described equipment and must maintain such licensure as a condition of employment. At the time of appointment must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>License to operate a backhoe and other excavation heavy equipment is preferred. </li><li>Ability to perform oil changes and tire rotations to automobiles, vans, and small trucks preferred </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <p>For information regarding the benefits available to State of Rhode Island employees, please visit the Office of Employee Benefits' website at http://www.employeebenefits.ri.gov/.</p> <p>Also, be advised that a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. At the time the employee is hired, the employee shall identify a financial institution that will serve as a personal depository agency for the employee.</p>
