<p>Description</p> <p>The Midwest T&D Distribution Modernization Business Line Manager will provide overall leadership, vision, and managerial direction for establishing Burns & McDonnell's position within the regional Distribution Modernization Market.</p> <p>This position will have primary accountability for all project management and business development within the Midwest Distribution Modernization market. This position will work closely with several other managers within the Midwest and the overall Distribution Modernization leadership team, including:</p> <ul> <li> <p>T&D Project Management Director - responsible for overall client development and execution of T&D projects within the region.</p> </li><li> <p>T&D Operations Manager - responsible for internal department personnel, operations, and coordination with section and department manager(s) throughout the region</p> </li><li> <p>T&D Global Practice Manager - responsible for the overall T&D business within the region.</p> </li><li> <p>T&D Business Development Manager - responsible for business development within the region.</p> </li><li> <p>Distribution Modernization Managing Director - responsible for overall Distribution Modernization nationally.</p> </li><li> <p>Distribution Modernization Department Manager - responsible for staffing, career development, and direct supervision of all design resources and Project Engineers within the Distribution Modernization department throughout the region.</p> </li></ul> <p>Specific areas of responsibility include:</p> <p>Business Development:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Identification and pursuit of Distribution Modernization opportunities for the Midwest Region.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishing Burns & McDonnell's position in the regional Distribution Modernization market through strategic planning and business plan development with a focus on continued growth in market share, profitable growth, and a great work environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Providing overall oversight and direction for the business development of the Midwest Distribution Modernization Markets. Work with appropriate personnel to lead the development and administration of the Midwest Distribution Modernization Business Plan.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the development of strong, work-winning relationships with key Distribution Modernization stakeholders at current and prospective clients.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead the development and diversification of the Midwest Distribution Modernization markets, including beyond T&D-owned clients and into other Global Practices' clients through cross-selling efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the development of Midwest Distribution Modernization, work with new clients, as well as the expansion of Distribution Modernization work with existing clients.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide oversight for the pursuit process, including "go/no-go" decisions, win strategies, proposal staffing, development of pricing, contract terms and conditions, and risk reviews.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct QC process to monitor the development of scopes of work, schedules, and budgets during the pursuit process.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure alignment and support of regional office proposal efforts and risk assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide senior-level technical advice regarding the execution of engineering projects to the project execution teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Other business development duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>Personnel:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate with T&D Operations Manager and Distribution Modernization Department Manager to drive recruitment and development of staff needed to grow Distribution Modernization.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruitment and development of the Center of Excellence leads for each Distribution Modernization Market segment.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruitment and development of Distribution Modernization Project-Managers-In-Training and Project Managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Management and career development of the Distribution Modernization project management personnel. Accountable for the development of leadership within the Distribution Modernization project management group and for assisting with the overall leadership development within the office. In coordination with the Project Management Director, provide oversight and direction for Project Managers to invest appropriately in their project teams' personnel to maximize employee-owner career development, satisfaction, and retention.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate a thriving work environment that facilitates the recruitment, development, and retention of the market's top talent.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a forecast of workload and required skillsets, and support the relevant personnel managers on recruitment and development of staff needed to achieve that and grow Distribution Modernization.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with personnel managers of all departments contributing to the Distribution Modernization Business Line to identify gaps in skillsets and/or levels, such that they can hire and structure their respective departments to allow for realizing the Business Line Manager's vision and for the pursuit of all viable opportunities in the region. Coordinate with the Project Management Director to drive the training and development of project management, business development, and client management skillsets within the team.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations for direct reports and participate in evaluations of other staff as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Other personnel duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Project Management:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Identify and oversee the implementation of effective change management practices on projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Proactively work through corrective actions where deficiencies are identified.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend, actively engage, and provide guidance in all Distribution Modernization Q1 and Q2 meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with the Midwest Risk Management Framework for all Distribution Modernization projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Overall identification and implementation of project management methods, procedures, tools, and technology to win new work and to execute existing work more profitably.</p> </li><li> <p>In coordination with relevant Department Managers, provide support and direction for all Midwest Distribution Modernization engineering projects, including project management, project planning, scheduling, resource management, budgeting, and the establishment/execution of critical project objectives. Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for the profitability and financial performance of the Midwest Distribution Modernization projects portfolio. Includes oversight and identification of Distribution Modernization project and portfolio risks, including the administration of the associated mitigation strategies to provide for a portfolio of work that meets or exceeds set goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership to the project management team; direct and coordinate assignments and activities of several disciplines, ensuring efficient and cost-effective utilization of staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct recurring project reviews to identify execution risks and review financial performance and resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide senior-level engineering and project management expertise to guide project managers in executing engineering projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish effective policies and procedures that promote project success, including on-time delivery, client satisfaction, quality, and profitability.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that client goals and initiatives are met.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that project managers understand and follow the Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program for all projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Facilitate collaboration with other Burns & McDonnell offices to coordinate business plans and assist in the pursuit of Distribution Modernization opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the Distribution Modernization Section/Department Manager and any Midwest Liaisons, as applicable, in the development and leveraging of strong international and subcontractor relationships dedicated to the support of</p> </li><li> <p>Midwest Distribution Modernization projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with the Business Development and Account Management personnel for the development and administration of client and project capture plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate with the Distribution Modernization team to support the development of EPC and Program Management opportunities within the Midwest Distribution Modernization market.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a leader in the advancement and development of innovative department tools and workflows to increase department efficiencies and promote the adoption and use of technology tools across all Distribution Modernization project teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Safety:</p> <ul> <li>Adherence and promotion of Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, training, and policies for all Distribution Modernization projects, as well as the promotion and management of the Safety & Health performance of the project team members. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related degree from an accredited program, and a minimum of 7 years of relevant project management related experience in the Distribution Modernization industry.
