<p>The College is proud to provide nationally recognized programs, offering a comprehensive curriculum and support services to open doors, open minds, and open arms to help transform students' lives. The Child Development & Families Studies department invites applicants to join our efforts in preparing teachers and education professionals, and providing parent education for San Francisco and the Bay Area. Instructors are needed to teach in person in our non-credit programs including: child development lab schools, child observation classes, foster care program, family resource center, tinker lab and general parent education.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ol> <li> <p>Teach in-person noncredit courses to parents, interns, field work students, student observers, assistants, and other adults at any of our campuses and in a variety of community locations. Programs include: child observation classes, lab schools, foster care program, coops and parent education that include young children (ages birth - 5 years) family resource center and tinker lab.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach in-person in child development lab schools and/or child observation classes, foster care program and parent education, plan curriculum and organize the environment for parent education, practicum and lab aid students and laboratory child development settings for children.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach in-person day, evening, and/or Saturday classes at various campuses/sites as required, and be available to substitute as needed in a variety of non credit programs with varying schedules.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and semester records that meet department requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete required reports such as student learning outcomes, grades, course outlines and enrollment management for programs on CCSF, county and state systems. Knowledge of technology to complete reports and assessments needed.</p> </li><li> <p>For Lab Schools: Familiarity and experience with program procedures and contracts such as; Title 5 SDE CSPP and CCTR contracts, Title 22 Community Care licensing, State and County grants and contracts, Child Care Food Program. Support for practicum students and Lab Aides. Site supervisor or program director level permit needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Support staff training, grants coordination, enrollment and outreach for the centers, partner with and participate in internal and external meetings. Interface with fiscal and budget staff and stay abreast of facility needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop Early Childhood and Child Development curriculum in collaboration with department faculty and organize and implement family participation activities, including a daily instructional program for adults and/or children in child development settings.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a professional relationship with adults including coordination of office and center staff. Provide a positive practicum and work experience for students and lab aides. Provide an appropriate parent education experience for parents of children in the lab schools & child observation classes.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend regular faculty meetings and training</p> </li><li> <p>Support and engage in culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.</p> </li></ol> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).</p> </li><li> <p>Earned a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Family and Consumer Studies with a specialization in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, Educational Psychology with a specialization in Child Development, Elementary Education, Psychology, or Family Life Studies; AND two years of professional experience in early childhood programs or parenting education.</p> </li></ol> <p>Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Nursing School and Pre-School Education (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).</p> <p>[The degree major(s) posted on an applicant's transcript(s) must be exactly as listed above under the degree requirements. When attaching this document, please use the "Equivalency Application Form" link.]</p> <p>Desirable Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Successful experience planning, implementing, and coordinating a child development program for Early Childhood students, parents and infant/toddler/preschool children.</p> </li><li> <p>Additional work in Child Development/Early Childhood Education beyond the Bachelor's Degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to teach lower division lecture Child Development/Early Childhood Education courses.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach students who have challenging needs which require individual attention.</p> </li><li> <p>Successful Community college teaching experience in an urban setting including working with practicum & work experience students.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with community based service organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to teach course work in specialty areas such as parent education, trauma informed care, special needs, bilingual education, childcare centers, child observation classes and foster care programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Possess a current Program Director Level Child Development Permit from the California Commission on Teaching Credentials. Recent experience coordinating a CDEV program in California.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of State Department of Education contracts for child development services, foster care and experience administering a state subsidized child development center in California.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated familiarity with brain development theory and sensory motor learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to speak Spanish, Cantonese or Mandarin.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of health, safety and nutrition needs of children in group settings.</p> </li><li> <p>Evidence of successful instruction and leadership experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.</p> </li></ol> <p>Benefits Application Procedure</p> <p>To apply for this posting, start by completing an online Faculty Position Application Form at http://jobs.ccsf.edu.
