Job applications for current students will not be considered if submitted through the external career center.</p> <p>Position Details</p> <p>The Office of Campus Recreation at University of Tampa has an opening for the position Associate Director, Aquatics and Safety. This position will be directly responsible for the overall management of the 32,000-square-foot Benson Alex Riseman Aquatic Center, which includes an 11 lane, 25-yard competition-sized pool, small recreational pool and clover leaf-shaped hot tub. Additionally, a pool house features a large viewing platform, visiting team facilities, restrooms and storage. This position reports to the Director, Campus Recreation and will also collaborate closely with the Athletic Department, specifically the UTAMPA Head Swim Coach.</p> <p>As a member of the Office of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of data-informed practice, sense of belonging, overall well-being, professional staff development, retention and persistence, and Spartan Ready culture. The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic focus areas to advance the mission and vision of Student Affairs, which results in student learning and support for students to grow as global citizens.</p> <p>This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Oversees and coordinates the administration of the facility, to include scheduling of facility operations and contract management.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as the primary pool operator for competition pool, recreational pool and spa.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees the contracted maintenance of the pools, to include chemistry, climate control and cleanliness, while ensuring that all appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards are maintained, and that pools are compliant with all local, state and national requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for the execution of all daily testing and monitoring, as well as the handling of repairs, adjustments and preventive maintenance when appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages all aquatic facility reservations, including open swim, swim team, clubs, academic classes, summer camps and special events.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for the development and revision of all aquatic policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates the recruitment, hiring, training, certification, scheduling and performance of student coordinators, head guards, lifeguards and other necessary student employment positions including ongoing training and in-services.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with swim coaches, staff, facilities management and housekeeping to successfully manage facility.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for assisting Athletics and head swim coach with coordination of home swim meets, including managing the swim meet and operating the scoreboard.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops, implements and oversees a variety of aquatics programs for students, faculty and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in the development of annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and maintains records of operational facility usage; monitors and maintains inventories of pool equipment and supplies; keeps a comprehensive, historical and up to date record of all preventive maintenance and other work done including in the pump room and chemical rooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for all risk management relating to the Riseman Aquatic Center including emergency action plans and chemical safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages certifications, records and audits of First Aid/CPR/AED for all campus recreation employees, oversees first aid supply inventory, and assists in providing instruction to the University community.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend trainings and fully engage in learning and utilizing university-wide technology, specifically Workday, and other department specific technology platforms; responsible for the management of a 16ft video board at the Riseman Aquatic Center.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees the procurement of all relevant data as it relates to the Riseman Aquatic Center; responsible for assessment of programs, services, employees, etc. to measure learning, success, and improve operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.</p> </li></ol> <p>Requirements</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's Degree required in Exercise Science, Health Science, Recreation Management, Sport Management, Student Affairs or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of three years of experience in aquatic administration, including direct oversight, leadership and management of a comprehensive facility. Preference of five or more years of progressive experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator.</p> </li><li> <p>American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and Lifeguard Instructor.</p> </li><li> <p>American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certified.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing student, part-time and/or full-time employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous experience with technology such as InnoSoft Fusion, WhenToWork, Connect2Concepts or similar programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.</p> </li></ol> <p>Required Attachments</p> <p>Please be sure to attach all required documents listed below in the attachment box at the bottom of the "My Experience" page of the application before continuing through the application.
