<p>Police</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the enforcement of animal control laws, ordinances, and regulations. </li><li>Respond to and investigate complaints about stray, injured, dangerous, or nuisance animals. </li><li>Capture and impound stray or uncontrolled animals using humane traps, nets, and other equipment. </li><li>Provide care for impounded animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health. </li><li>Investigate cases of animal cruelty or neglect and take appropriate actions, including issuing citations and providing evidence for prosecutions. </li><li>Educate the public on responsible pet ownership, animal safety, and local animal control laws. </li><li>Assist in the operation and maintenance of the animal shelter. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of daily activities, impounded animals, and investigations. </li><li>Work closely with the Quincy Police Department, the Quincy Health Department, and other agencies. </li><li>Participate in public outreach programs, community events, and educational sessions. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in animal science, veterinary technology, or related field is a plus. </li><li>Previous experience working with animals, preferably in an animal control, veterinary, or animal shelter setting. </li><li>Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to animal control. </li><li>Ability to handle animals safely and humanely. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations. </li><li>Valid Massachusetts driver's license with a good driving record. </li><li>Physical ability to lift and restrain animals, and to work in various weather conditions. </li><li>Availability to work weekends, holidays, and be on-call for emergencies. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. </li><li>Exposure to potentially dangerous animals and zoonotic diseases. </li><li>Use of protective clothing and equipment as required. </li><li>The hours of work are Tuesday through Saturday (8:30am - 4:30pm) to accommodate the departments operational needs </li></ul> <p>The City of Quincy is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds.</p> <p>Application:To apply, please complete a City of Quincy Employment Application and follow the directions on the Job Postings Page</p>
