<p>The Research Program Coordinator of Career Partnerships role is part of the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor responsible for assisting the career development team in administering student workplace supports, coordinating student internship and employment opportunities, and evaluating the program's career development initiatives.</p> <p>Reporting directly to the Director of Career Development, the Research Program Coordinator of Career Partnerships will plan and develop community internship and employment opportunities, provide individualized job development supports for students and community employers, expand employer relations efforts, support the career development team with data collection, and assist the Director of Career Development and Apprenticeships in program initiatives. Based out of the nationally recognized Peabody College, Next Steps is an innovative postsecondary program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing individualized programs focused on academic, social, and career development. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Lead upperclasss students in identifying and developing individualized internship, employment, or RAP placements on a yearly basis. This may include: </li><li>Providing one-on-one support to students with internship, employment, or apprenticeship search activities (i.e., including updating relevant employment documents, researching roles online, networking, drafting, and sending letters of interest to employers, completing online job applications, and preparing for interviews). </li><li>Supporting students with any pre-hire paperwork and new hire orientation requirements prior to starting internships. </li><li>Coordinating student internship, job, or apprenticeship schedules based on the needs of the placement site and the student's schedule. </li><li>Monitoring progress on and providing feedback for internship, job, or apprenticeship placements aligned with the career development scope and sequence, as determined by the Director of Career Development. </li><li>Provide consultative support to students and community employer partners. This may include: </li><li>Delivering inclusive workplace training to campus employer partners, as needed. </li><li>Developing individualized support tools and plans for natural workplace support with students and site supervisors. </li><li>Communicating with all parties, checking in with the student and internship supervisor to ensure support needs are being met. </li><li>Evaluating the student's workplace skills and independence through weekly evaluations, collecting data on their professionalism, communication, transferable job skills, and specialized skills. </li><li>Supporting the student and supervisor in conducting pre/post-placement performance reviews as an opportunity to discuss feedback, goals, and expectations. </li><li>Supporting RAP partners as needed to ensure effective delivery of mentorship </li><li>Develop RAP experiences. This may include: </li><li>Aligning program of study and internship or job experiences to RAP requirements </li><li>Recruiting RAP employer partners </li><li>Enrolling junior or senior students in RAPs that align with their career and academic goals and interests </li><li>Evaluating effectiveness of RAP experiences and refining practices </li><li>Developing 1 new RAP sites per year </li><li>Leading the oversight of 2 RAP sites, once developed </li><li>Expand community employer relations and partnerships. This may include: </li><li>Utilizing networking, relationship building, and customer service skills to develop new partnerships and identify additional opportunities for upperclass students to explore their targeted career pathways </li><li>Attending and participating in local networking events (i.e., attending job fairs, attending Chamber of Commerce events, attending employer hosted events) </li><li>Assist the Director of Career Development to manage and maintain all relevant employment data. This may include: </li></ul> <p>? Administering surveys and evaluation tools and compiling and sharing results</p> <p>? Maintaining a system for tracking and collecting data year-round in coordination with university procedures</p> <p>? Coordinating with the career development team to publicize career development data for prospective students and employer partners</p> <ul> <li>Perform additional Next Steps Staff Duties </li></ul> <p>? Teaching the Sophomore Career Development Courses (NEXT 1005 and NEXT1007)</p> <p>? Serving as an Adviser to students enrolled in Next Steps</p> <p>? Collaborating with the Director of Career Development and program staff on research and communication of best practices in career development for young adults with intellectual disability, particularly within higher education contexts including conferences and presentations</p> <p>Supervisory Relationships</p> <p>At the direction of the Director of Career Development, the program coordinator will support with the supervision of career coaches (graduate assistants) working with career exploration activities and internships. This includes supporting the Director of Career Development with the training of 3-4 career coaches, discussing additional coaching support needs, and addressing concerns as they arise in relation to career exploration and internships. Specifically, the Research Program Coordinator of Career Partnerships will work closely with at least 1 career coach per year on project-based endeavors related to employer relations and/or data collection.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree required and experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.</p> <p>2 years of experience in education, job training, career development or related field is necessary.</p> <p>Active, valid drivers license is required as this position will regularly require travel during the course of its duties</p> <p>Experience with data collection and/or employer relations</p> <p>Project development and implementation</p>
