<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Elementary School Teacher-Movement Teacher:</p> <p>Easton Arts Elementary Charter School is a public charter school serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our student body reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the greater Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks counties and the Pocono Region. Besides a rigorous academic program we pride ourselves with our exceptional arts program of visual art, theater/drama, music, dance and movement.</p> <p>We are looking for our next movement-mindfulness teacher who incorporates and teaches physical movement, often in a holistic way that integrates physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects. They may specialize in various areas like yoga, dance, or general physical education. The classes often incorporate imagination, mobility games, and obstacle courses to enhance strength, flexibility, and kinesthetic learning.</p> <p>Position:</p> <p>Integrating Movement into Mindfulness Practice:</p> <p>Incorporating movement modalities such as yoga, dance, or other physical activities to facilitate mindfulness and well-being. Designing and implementing movement-based activities (e.g., imagination, mobility games) that enhance physical, mental, and emotional development. Teaching the philosophy of mind/body/emotional connection.</p> <p>Creating a Supportive Learning Environment: Fostering engagement and growth in participants through empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.</p> <p>This is a unique education position that works within our Arts Program with Visual Arts-Theater/Drama-Music-Dance.</p> <p>Education and Certification Requirements:</p> <p>Valid clearances (especially for school settings).</p> <p>General Teaching Certification with a Focus on Movement and Mindfulness:</p> <p>PA Health and Physical Education (K-12) Certification: A certification in Health and Physical Education qualifies an individual to teach various movement-related topics, including dance and rhythmic activities.</p> <p>General PA Teacher Certification: The initial teaching certificate-Instructional I Certification.</p> <p>Requirements: A bachelor's degree, completion of an Educator Preparation Program (EPP).</p> <p>Concepts within the classroom setting:</p> <ul> <li>Movement Education: This is a broader approach that emphasizes the connection between physical activity and learning,It encourages incorporating movement into various subjects and activities beyond traditional PE class to enhance learning and well-being. </li><li>Creative Movement: Teacher instructed "creative movement" classes that focus on encouraging children's imagination and exploration through guided movement exercises, without requiring formal dance training. </li></ul> <p>Reports To:</p> <ul> <li>CEO/Principal </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain standards of behavior to create safe, orderly, and effective environments for learning. </li><li>Develop and implement planned instruction aligned with academic standards </li><li>Develop and implement local assessment system and determine proficient levels on each assessment. </li><li>Utilize the Standards Aligned System (SAS) as a digital curriculum and instruction resource site. </li><li>Maintain inventory of instructional equipment, materials, or aids. </li><li>Instruct students, using physical education techniques to improve physical fitness. </li><li>Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. </li><li>Adapt instructional techniques to the age and skill levels of students. </li><li>Maintain thorough student records to document attendance, participation, or progress, ensuring confidentiality of all records. </li><li>Communicate behavioral observations and student progress reports to students, parents, teachers, or administrators. </li><li>Participate in staff development and training. </li><li>Consistently displays professionalism and is collaborative with all staff. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requires Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individual groups, and the measurement of instructional effects. </li><li>Experience teaching elementary level students-movement-creative movement activities. </li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all professionals, parents, students, and community members. </li><li>Project a professional image. </li></ul> <p>If you meet the requirements and want to work in an Arts Education environment, please contact Tracy Nicolazzi at tnicolazzi@eaaecs.org</p>
