<p>Job Title: Head Esports Coach</p> <p>Department: Athletics</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Esports and Director of Athletics & Student Life</p> <p>Supervises: Work Study Students</p> <p>Job Classification: Exempt</p> <p>Location: Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, IA</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and vision for the Esports program, including the hiring and supervision of Esports assistant coach, recruiting student-athletes, coaching, and facility management. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervising a comprehensive program including current games and providing leadership and growth/change in game offerings. Will successfully lead and oversee the Esports program in a cost-effective manner. Responsible for developing summer camp/conference experiences to assist with developing a healthy community of gamers and enhancing revenue, as well as growing sponsor/partner/donor revenue to support the Esports program.</p> <p>This position will serve in a second college assignment in one of the following areas: Athletic Coordinator, Sports Information Director, Athletic Facilities/Grounds, Admissions, or Residence Life.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides an environment for successful recruitment and retention of student athletes with a total roster size of 25-40 participants with potential for further growth. </li><li>Develop a healthy, competitive community of gamers and establish guidelines, policies and norms that support student health and well-being, inclusivity, and coordinate recruitment and scholarship activities. </li><li>Works with prospective students and families through the recruiting cycle to ensure all paperwork is received, processed, and all questions are addressed. </li><li>Evaluate player and contribute to their growth while supporting the development of student athletes' success in the classroom and in their respective sport. </li><li>Coordinates an effective schedule for practice and competitions. </li><li>Provides for program needs within allocated budget, including inventory of all equipment and uniforms. </li><li>Maintain the Esports facility and equipment. </li><li>Develop and represent ECC in a professional/positive manner on and off campus to support the success of the position. Organize and manage summer camps for prospective Esports student athletes. </li><li>Works collaboratively with the Director of Athletics to ensure compliance with all IVCCD, ICCAC and NJCAA rules and regulations. </li><li>Excellent understanding of the intricacies and strategies of at least one of these games: Call of Duty, Rocket League, Mario Kart, Fortnite, Street Fighter 6 and Super Smash Bros (console) preferred. </li><li>Attends IVCCD and ICCAC meetings as required. </li><li>The Head Esports Coach will also serve in a second college assignment of one of the following: Athletic Coordinator, Sports Information Director, Athletic Facilities & Grounds, Admissions, or Residence Life. Assists with internal and external operations and fundraising. Helps with department functions, including but not limited to accounts receivable/requisitions, fitness center and concession stand scheduling, transportation/bus scheduling, sports information and live streaming, facilities and grounds, to include cross country course ball diamonds, soccer fields, gymnasiums, and the student activity center. Supports the Athletic Director and department with fundraising and community engagement when necessary. </li><li>Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.</p> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a diverse population of students. Knowledge, problem solving skills and ability to organize multiple priorities and job duties. Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of all competitive video games, including but not limited to League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, and Super Smash Bros (console). Have an understanding of NJCAA and Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) rules and regulations; ability to work collaboratively with students, college staff, assistant coach. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Valid Driver's License, CPR Certified </li></ul> <p>Base Wage: $44,000-$59,000 annually - actual salary will be based on experience and education.</p> <p>Benefit Information: This position offers a full benefit package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, retirement plan, vacation, sick and staff development opportunities.</p> <p>Iowa Valley Community College District does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment.
