<p>Family Liaison - Part-time</p> <p>Location - TBD</p> <p>Job Code: 404</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-exempt</p> <p>Time Schedule: As needed</p> <p>Supervisor - Building Principal</p> <p>Hourly rate: $13.63</p> <p>Retirement System: SERS</p> <p>If there are questions regarding specific responsibilities of this position, please contact Misty Wheeler, Human Resource Specialist 330-761-2916.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>The Family Liaison will be assigned to a school location and is responsible for building cooperative working relationships between families and school personnel to empower families to partner with the school to become active participants in the education of their children.</p> <p>Note: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Required: All of the following must be met at time of application except where noted:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Experience in working with parents, staff and citizens within the Akron Public Schools community </li><li>Communication skills and Technology skills </li><li>Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and reliable transportation </li></ul> <p>Desired:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in an elementary/secondary school setting </li><li>Experience in working with volunteer social service agencies or organizations </li></ul> <p>Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Work with principal and staff to organize and implement family activities </li><li>Collaborate with school administrators and staff on family engagement work </li><li>Serve as a liaison between community agencies and families </li><li>Coordinate volunteer activities </li><li>Serve as a resource person for staff and families. </li><li>Work with building leadership to coordinate services available for families </li><li>Develop positive rapport with students, families and school officials. </li><li>Ability to gather information through the use of surveys and collect necessary data </li><li>Work to improve school-to-home communication </li><li>Knowledge of Akron Public Schools' policies and procedures </li><li>Facilitate family Involvement at school site </li><li>Recruit students and families for participation in programs </li><li>Meets regularly with building staff to stay abreast of school and family concerns </li><li>Serves as liaison to families for the purpose of removing school barriers. </li><li>Participates on various committees </li><li>Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students and families. </li><li>Regularly attend school and district meetings, forums and conferences regarding family engagement programming </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to listen effectively, actively </li><li>Ability to problem solve </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing </li><li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands/Work Environment</p> <p>The physical demands of the job described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
