<p>The Pre-Award Research Support Specialist will contribute to the research mission of IIHR - Hydroscience and Engineering by providing pre-award grant support through collaboration in development and submission of competitive grant and contract proposals to a broad range of sponsors, including federal, state and local government agencies, corporations, foundations, utilities, municipalities, engineering firms, and more.</p> <p>The College of Engineering and Department of IIHR - Hydroscienence and Engineering will be hiring one candidate at either the Pre-Award Research Support Specialist level or Pre-Award Research Support Manager level. Please visit Jobs@uiowa and enter requisition #25004703 for Pre-Award Research Support Manager information.</p> <p>This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.</p> <p>Hybrid within Iowa: This position may be eligible for a combination of on-campus and remote work within Iowa after the training period is completed. Work arrangement options will be discussed during the hiring process. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.</p> <p>Specific Job Duties and Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with pre-award management with a moderate degree of complexity, from both federal and non-federal funding sources. </li><li>Assist faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and staff with navigating the university's research infrastructure by providing checklists, liaising with the Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) and other offices, advising of internal deadlines, developing grant submission timelines, etc. </li><li>Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with preparation of research proposals for external funding by creating budgets, interpreting sponsor guidelines, developing supporting materials, and proofreading as needed. </li><li>Collaborate with post-award support staff and PIs to ensure proper notifications, interpretation of sponsor guidelines, and managing of budgets. </li><li>Collaborate with post-award support staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of grant financial projections. </li><li>Assist faculty with development of compliance information as required for contracts and grant proposals. Assure compliance with award terms and conditions by reviewing new grants and contracts and alerting the PI and post award team to issues of compliance significance. </li><li>May consult with faculty to discuss, evaluate, and plan for current and future needs and research funding opportunities. </li><li>Establish new user accounts and assist with training faculty and research staff on electronic grant submission systems and financial reports. </li><li>Serve as a contact for the Division of Sponsored Programs regarding grant submissions, along with the CoE Business Officer and IIHR Director of Finance and Business Operations. </li><li>Communicate with University of Iowa units to assure compliance, adherence to policies and status tracking, and direct communications with sponsors and other entities. </li><li>May provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure funding outcomes are achieved. </li></ul> <p>To obtain the full job description including key areas of responsibility, technical competencies, and desirable qualifications, please contact Alex-Schutman@uiowa.edu</p> <p>About the College of Engineering</p> <p>The College of Engineering at the University of Iowa is driven by talented faculty, staff, and students who are dedicated to producing knowledge that addresses grand challenges in advanced technologies, health sciences, sustainability, energy, and the environment.
