<p>General Purpose</p> <p>The Clay County Parks Department is seeking a motivated Parks Maintenance Worker to join our team. This entry-level position is responsible for the general maintenance of systems and grounds keeping for County-owned buildings and facilities. You will work under the direct supervision of Parks Maintenance Technicians to ensure our public spaces remain safe, clean, and functional for the community.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform basic maintenance, reconstruction, remodeling, and repair services. </li><li>Execute various grounds maintenance tasks to preserve landscape aesthetics. </li><li>Complete formal work orders and follow verbal instructions from Parks Management. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Grounds keeping: Mow, edge, and trim grass; plant and fertilize trees/shrubs; install sod; and maintain irrigation systems. </li><li>Facility Care: Clean restrooms, empty trash, and repair/install site amenities such as picnic tables, grills, fencing, and signs. </li><li>Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain tractors, commercial riding mowers, trimmers, edgers, aerators, and seeders. </li><li>Seasonal Operations: Perform snow and ice removal using shovels, snow blowers, and trucks equipped with plow blades and spreaders. </li><li>Preventive Maintenance: Service equipment by changing oil/filters, greasing parts, sharpening blades, and performing minor rust repair/painting. </li><li>Building Maintenance: Perform minor electrical repairs (changing bulbs/ballasts), patch and paint interior/exterior surfaces, and conduct custodial functions. </li><li>Emergency Response: Carry an assigned duty pager and respond to after-hour emergencies or essential tasks (e.g., snow removal) as needed. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Technical Proficiency: Skill in using a wide variety of hand, power, pneumatic, and carpentry tools. </li><li>Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiency in personal computers, including Microsoft Excel and Word. </li><li>Physical Stamina: Ability to work in extreme heat or cold for extended periods; ability to walk long distances, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Communication: Ability to read and write English sufficiently to interpret MSDS sheets, warning labels, and manuals; ability to interact courteously with the public. </li><li>Safety & Vision: Must follow all safety regulations, pass a drug-screening test, and possess 20/20 corrected vision with the ability to see colors clearly. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>Valid driver's license and insurance with the ability to drive in normal and inclement weather. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Completion of technical school or college-level courses in a maintenance-related field. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>May be exposed for prolonged periods to outdoor weather conditions that may vary from extreme heat to extreme cold; and to debris, fumes, odors, airborne particles and dust; may be exposed to the possibility of bodily injury; and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and other hazardous conditions. </li></ul> <p>Required Travel:</p> <ul> <li>The employee is frequently required to travel throughout the County; may be required to travel within and out of state. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Clay County?</p> <p>Clay County offers a collaborative and professional work environment dedicated to serving the citizens of Missouri.
