Finally, community support is our passion because we do more than work in the communities our companies serve; we live here, too.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Batch Plant Yardman is responsible for operating loaders and other heavy equipment to handle materials, maintain the yard, and ensure the efficient operation of the plant yard site. This role involves loading and unloading materials, performing routine maintenance, and assisting with various tasks around the plant.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Operate equipment to move and load materials such as aggregates and cement. </li><li>Load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas. </li><li>Perform routine maintenance and inspections on loaders and other equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. </li><li>Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and supplies. </li><li>Assist in the quality control process by sampling and testing concrete products. </li><li>Keep the yard and plant area clean and organized. </li><li>Assist customers with loading and unloading products and provide excellent customer service. </li><li>Communication with external site traffic and plant personnel, ensuring safe and efficient methods of movement throughout the site. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining and pouring large concrete blocks with leftover concrete. </li><li>In-person attendance is required. </li></ul> <p>Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for regular upkeep of the yard, including mowing lawns, trimming grass, and removing weeds to ensure a tidy and safe environment. </li><li>Prolonged periods of sitting and standing. </li><li>Provide support for any necessary maintenance tasks related to equipment. </li><li>Assist with addressing any quality control issues at the designated plant, helping to ensure products meet standards and specifications. </li><li>Acquire knowledge of plant batch control systems and learn how to operate them effectively to support plant operations. </li><li>May perform additional duties as assigned by management. </li><li>Safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders. </li><li>The position will require work outside of normal business hours. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or up to 100 pounds with assistance. </li></ul> <p>Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Driver's License (DL) and satisfactory driving record are required. </li><li>Demonstrated adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment is essential. </li><li>Must maintain professional relationships with customers, managers, and colleagues. </li><li>Represent The Gerken Companies to customers in a professional manner, supporting the company's goals. </li><li>Strict compliance with all OSHA regulations and safety standards to ensure workplace safety. </li><li>Alerting the customer and company to unsafe conditions on the job site is essential. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school is required. </li><li>Ready-mixed concrete experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Competitive Benefits Package:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Company-paid/discounted YMCA membership</p> </li><li> <p>Competitive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance</p> </li><li> <p>Employer contribution to Health Savings Account with enrollment in High Deductible Health Plan</p> </li><li> <p>Traditional and Roth 401(k) Plans w/ Employer Match</p> </li><li> <p>Company-Paid Life Insurance Policy</p> </li><li> <p>Paid Time Off (Personal, Holiday, Bereavement)</p> </li></ul> <p>Join our team and be part of a company that values safety, teamwork, and professional growth!</p> <p>Note: This job description is intended to outline the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role.
