<p>To:All Staff Brockton Public Schools</p> <p>From:Dr. Kathleen F. Moran, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources</p> <p>Subject:Supervisor of Attendance</p> <p>Qualifications: 1.Demonstration of knowledge of the laws concerning school attendance and of services available to children with attendance problems. 2.Possession of one of the following: a.Two years of experience working as a parole, probation, or law enforcement official whose major responsibilities have been working with juveniles and/or in-home investigations. b.A minimum of eighteen graduate credits in psychology, school counseling and/or social work at an accredited college. c.An Initial or Professional Massachusetts license as a School Counselor, School Psychologist, School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor. d.An Initial or Professional Massachusetts administrator license with at least one course in psychology, school counseling and/or social work at an accredited college. e.A combination of experience working with school-age children in a school setting or a non-school setting deemed acceptable by the Department and education in psychology, guidance and/or social work at an accredited college. f.Supervisor of Attendance certificate issued by MA DESE 3.Personal skills to work with people in wide variety of circumstances and judicious use of authority. 4.Computer literacy as well as communication and writing skills.</p> <p>Duties: 1.Enforcement of compulsory school attendance laws. 2.Inquire into cases of prolonged or unexcused absences by means of home visits, conferences and telephone calls. 3.Interact with school personnel in cases involving habitual school offenders. 4.Apprehend and bring to school truants found in public places. 5.Act as liaison between the schools, homes, police, court and other public and private agencies to provide services for families in need of assistance. 6.Collaborate with school administrators to seek court complaints for students who are habitually truant or habitual school offenders, and for parents who fail to cause their children to attend school. 7.Investigation of student residency/guardianship issues, including making home visits and / or early morning observations to ensure that students reside within the city 8.Clarify cases where legal guardianship is in question 9.Maintain and provide records regarding student attendance investigations and outcomes 10.Complete data and intervention requests, as requested, from the Office of Unified Student Services 11.Communicate with school administrators or designees regularly and serve as a member of the School-Based Instructional Support Team of assigned schools. 12.Proactively monitor student attendance in assigned schools and support the school with ongoing communication between school and family relative to matters of attendance. 13.Other Duties related to attendance identified by the Coordinator of Center for Reengagement and Restorative Justice, Assistant Superintendent of Unified Student Services, Superintendent of Schools, or designee.</p> <p>This is a 12 month position.</p> <p>Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year</p>
