<p># JOB SUMMARY # Works under the supervision of Manager of the Department. Acts as receptionist for area.# Schedules surgical procedures according to established policies and practices. As a customer-focused Memorial Healthcare team member, he/she must be accessible, flexible, knowledgeable, and responsive.# Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care. # # PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES # Acts as receptionist for area, as appropriate. Scheduling of surgeries and procedures as sent from physician offices: # Distributes #draft procedure schedule# to Pre-op Holding for timely preparation of patient charts. Accurately schedules patient procedures within physician blocks and works closely with office schedulers to ensure effective use of the OR schedule#### Coordinates with Anesthesia for surgical and procedural scheduling Assists manager, associate manager and charge nurses with other duties as assigned. Collects data to compile management reports as assigned. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, physicians, and employee issues. Demonstrates job related aspects of patient safety to assure a safe environment, safe and effective use of equipment and technology, and decreased risk of potential adverse patient occurrences. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.# Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his/her assigned unit.# Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient#s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient#s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit#s and division#s policies and procedures. Performs all other job-related duties as assigned. # JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION# Completion of medical terminology course. Completion of patient care secretary class at accredited college, Memorial Healthcare, or equivalent on-the-job experience. Requires level of education necessary to read and interpret physicians# orders and patient charts. Performs basic math skills. Type 45 words per minute with no more than five errors. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required. # EXPERIENCE Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient with Expanse documentation. Sufficient knowledge to type, file, maintain monthly records. Perform related clerical activities. Knowledge of medical terminology. # ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS######## #### Small motor skills required for operating modern office, computer and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare On a daily basis may be required to move about, sit or bend. May be required to push/pull/carry items between 20-100lbs #### ##### # ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES#### Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
