<p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Director of Programing, the Director plans and implements programs and activities for adults 60 & over. Specific duties and responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for all aspects of program operation including program development; planning, organizing and implementing new and innovative programs and activities based on the changing needs of the older adults in the centers service area; responsible for program oversight and compliance with agency and funding source requirements. </li><li>Responsible for supervision of staff and volunteers, overseeing services such as: outreach, case assistance nutrition and programming. </li><li>Hire, train, evaluate and professionally manage program staff. Ensure that staff meet funding source requirements in regards to qualifications and ongoing training. </li><li>Provide effective leadership, motivation, and direction to program staff to enable the agency to provide professional, comprehensive services. </li><li>Maintain professional standards in all aspects of work, including direct service, tracking and follow-up, professional development, documentation, and supervision. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners to boost involvement and understanding of senior needs, in particular local health and social service organizations. </li><li>Plan and supervise staff and consultants in effectively carrying out health promotion and educational/ recreational activities as well as events and services that are appropriate and meet the various interests and needs of the center population. </li><li>Collaborate with Roundtable Director (caterer) with menu planning in accordance with funding source guidelines to plan menus that meet the needs of the program participants. </li><li>Ensure that staff involved in food service handle food in a safe and sanitary manner. </li><li>Plan and implement outreach efforts to ensure that isolated or underserved populations are identified and that services are consistent with community needs. </li><li>Manage revenue and expenses within approved budget and prepare payment request and vouchers. </li><li>Review monthly general ledgers and bi-weekly payroll reports. </li><li>Ensure the preparation of all funding source requirements for recordkeeping and reporting. </li><li>Ensure that all documentation of all daily service units is maintained in the funding source required database and that monthly reporting of service units tie to this database. </li><li>Exhibit strong and calm leadership skills for directing staff and coordinating with other organizations to handle crisis situations and implement plans for disaster preparedness. </li><li>Attend community meetings, prepare reports and attend meetings as required by the agency. </li><li>Meets regularly with the Senior Advisory Committee and other committees as necessary. </li><li>Other duties as required by the organization. </li></ul> <p>COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Experience in providing social services to the elderly a plus. </li><li>Experience in DFTA funded senior services and Bilingual skills are a plus. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills and strong verbal/written communication skills </li><li>Experienced in planning, organizing and implementing recreation programs and services </li><li>Able to coordinate several projects simultaneously </li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software </li><li>Ability to work independent </li><li>Strong human and public relations skills </li><li>Interest and ability to work with senior citizens and volunteers </li><li>Commitment to organizations mission, vision and values </li><li>Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities </li><li>Have a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.) </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors Degree with at least two years of experience in implementing and running programs and/or groups with clients as well as experience in program or service development. (Experience as an Intern is acceptable.) Associates Degree with three years experience; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with five years experience in supervising or programming activities for senior citizens or other populations in a non-profit or government setting. </li></ul>
