Experience Cortland dives deep into the region's offerings </li></ul> <p>Major Responsibilities</p> <p>A classroom based 3 credit hour course pays $4000 per class. The department typically hires for the courses/subject areas listed below but this list is not all inclusive. Other courses/subject areas may become available within the department.</p> <p>ILLUSTRATIVE NEEDS INCLUDE:</p> <p>LIT 371 Teaching Elementary School Reading & Language Arts I</p> <p>LIT 372 Teaching Elementary School Reading & Language Arts II</p> <p>LIT 511 - Teaching Literacy in the Primary Grades</p> <p>LIT 516 - Teaching Literacy in the Intermediate Grades</p> <p>LIT 525 - Discrete Literacy Instruction and Assessment</p> <p>LIT 527 - Comprehension Instruction and Assessment</p> <p>LIT 528 - Literacy Foundations</p> <p>LIT 535 - Writing Instruction and Assessment</p> <p>LIT 449 - Literacy in the Middle and Secondary School (cross-listed with LIT 549)</p> <p>LIT 549 - Literacy in the Middle and Secondary School</p> <p>LIT 560 - Children's and Young Adult Literature in the Curriculum</p> <p>LIT 590 - Teaching and Learning Literacy in the Digital Age</p> <p>LIT 630 - Literacy and Society</p> <p>LIT 669 - The Literacy Specialist and The Literacy Program</p> <p>LIT 690 - Assessment for the Specialized Literacy Professional</p> <p>LIT 693 - Applied Assessment and Instruction: Literacy Capstone and Practicum</p> <p>Functional and Supervisory Relationships</p> <p>Reports to department chair</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Master's degree in Literacy/Reading Education or related field.</p> <p>Competency with technological tools</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience teaching online courses at the college level </li><li>New York State certification in Literacy/Reading. </li><li>Doctorate in Literacy/Reading Education or related field. </li><li>At least three years of B-12 teaching of reading </li></ul> <p>About the University</p> <p>A top public university of approximately 6,600 students located in the geographic center of New York State, SUNY Cortland provides accessible, affordable education to students from across the U.S. body.
