<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position: Black History Project Internship</p> <p>Location: City Hall - Mayor Sullivan's Office</p> <p>Date Opened: December 3, 2024</p> <p>Date Closed: Until Filled</p> <p>Position Type: See Details Section</p> <p>Salary: Academic Credits Provided</p> <p>The Mayor's Office of the City of Brockton is seeking a motivated and creative student intern to assist with a Black History project highlighting historical landmarks of significance to the African American community across the City. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an impactful community initiative while gaining hands-on experience in photography, design, and content creation.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Photograph African American historical landmarks around the City of Brockton to support project materials.</p> <p>Assist with the design and layout of a brochure, including formatting text and images.</p> <p>Type and format historical information for promotional and educational materials.</p> <p>Collaborate with the Director of Immigration Affairs and other team members to ensure project goals are met.</p> <p>Work both outdoors (on-site at landmarks) and in-office as needed to complete tasks. Requirements</p> <p>Currently enrolled in an academic program with eligibility for internship credit (the Mayor's Office will work with your school to coordinate credit).</p> <p>Basic photography skills and familiarity with using cameras or smartphones for high-quality images.</p> <p>Proficiency in word processing and basic design tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Canva, or Adobe tools).</p> <p>Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.</p> <p>Reliable transportation to travel to historical landmarks across Brockton.</p> <p>Interest in history, public service, or community engagement is a plus.</p> <p>Details:</p> <p>Duration: This internship is project-based and will last for the duration of the Black History project (end date to be determined).</p> <p>Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week, with flexibility depending on project needs.</p> <p>Reporting: The intern will report directly to the Director of Immigration Affairs.</p> <p>Compensation: This is an unpaid internship; however, it is designed for academic credit.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Application Process:</p> <p>Interested candidates should submit the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>A resume highlighting relevant skills and experience.</p> </li><li> <p>A brief statement of interest (no more than 300 words) explaining why you are interested in this opportunity.</p> </li><li> <p>A small portfolio of your previous work.</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>The City of Brockton provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, disability, military status, genetic information, pregnancy or a pregnancy-related condition, or membership in any other protected class.
