<p>Provide service excellence to each patient and family by performing and completing designated business processes associated with an outpatient visit. At each outpatient visit, complete processes in an efficient fashion, ensuring that the patient and family are prepared for their outpatient appointment in a timely fashion. Also, ensure that all demographic and financial information is accurately verified in advance of the patient visit, and monitor the waiting room and work environment to ensure patient safety and high service levels.</p> <p>Participate in Nemours programs for continuous quality, performance, and service improvement and work with department management to improve the services provided, through a team-based approach.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ol> <li> <p>Receive patients in a professional and caring manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Gather and update information regarding demographics and insurance in a respectful and confidential fashion.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule and confirm appointments.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain authorization and pre-certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Document and follow up on referrals.</p> </li><li> <p>Document and follow up on no-shows and cancelations.</p> </li><li> <p>Answer telephone using proper phone etiquette and direct calls accordingly.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain content and organization of medical records.</p> </li><li> <p>Register patients, collect payments from patients, post charges according to procedures, provide receipts and appropriately document all financial transactions. This includes cash reconciliation and bank deposit preparation.</p> </li><li> <p>Order clerical and clinical supplies and maintain records.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor waiting rooms and keep patients informed as to schedule delays.</p> </li><li> <p>Advise families regarding obtaining Medicaid coverage and/or Nemours Financial Assistance for their children.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with arrangements for transportation</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with patient flow.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare office communications</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in quality improvement activities</p> </li><li> <p>Filing of patient charts, correspondence and related documentation scan documents into EPIC.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain inventory of supplies and forms</p> </li><li> <p>Open and sort mail, lab reports and consultation reports. Stamp "received" and distribute for Provider review.</p> </li></ol> <p>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent </li></ul> <p>2 years minimum medical experience</p> <ul> <li>Computer/typing skills required </li><li>Clerical experience in a physician's office preferred; EPIC experience preferred </li></ul>
