<p>Position:</p> <p>Part time Cafeteria Aide</p> <p>Work hours would tentatively be 11:05-1:20, M-F depending on lunch schedule</p> <p>Job Goal:</p> <p>To assist and support students in the Cafeteria during meal times</p> <p>Supervision:</p> <p>Reports to the Building Principal, School Nutrition Services Director & School Nutrition Manager</p> <p>Education & Work Experience</p> <p>Required: High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.</p> <p>Preferred: Choke Saver Training Certification. First Aid Certification. Safety Care training. Experience working with children.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist students with opening food packaging for their meals. </li><li>Monitor the Share Bin to ensure the Standard Operating Procedures for use of the Share Bin are being followed. </li><li>Monitor students at the tray return window to ensure trays are placed in the window in an orderly manner and students are not pushing, shoving or otherwise engaging in unsafe behavior. </li><li>May be asked to monitor students in the serving area to ensure students are not crowding each other, are not stealing, and are not touching food that they do not intend to eat (e.g. touching food, purposely coughing or breathing on food). </li><li>May be asked to assist School Nutrition workers in ensuring students take all required meal components, including a fruit or vegetable. </li><li>Monitor students' behavior in the cafeteria during meal times. </li><li>Redirect students whose behavior is disruptive or dangerous to other students or otherwise not in line with school expectations. </li><li>Monitor volume in the cafeteria and use approved strategies to get students to reduce the volume of their voices. </li><li>Refer students to the Principal or designee when their behavior is disruptive or dangerous to other students or staff. </li><li>Establish and follow procedures for students getting out of their seats during meal times, and assist with transition routines (e.g. to use the bathroom, get napkins or plasticware, get drinking water, dump trays, lining up to exit the eating area, etc., ) </li><li>Collaborate with other staff members (Administration, Teachers, School Nutrition Staff, etc.,) </li><li>Participate in professional development offered by the District. </li><li>Follow established school procedures for dismissing students from the cafeteria. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or School Nutrition Services Director. </li></ul> <p>Special Knowledge/Abilities For Position: Must be able to comprehend and follow verbal and written instruction. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing.</p> <p>Physical Requirements: The position requires walking and standing for the entire shift. Activities include frequent physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, and twisting.</p> <p>Environmental Conditions: This position works indoors. This position may occasionally be required to work outdoors on special occasions such as Field Day. May be exposed to wet/slippery conditions.</p>
