<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Just off of I-85, at the South Carolina-Georgia border, you'll find Lake Hartwell State Park. Thanks to 56,000-acre Lake Hartwell, fishing in this area is renowned by anglers across the state. The lake is inhabited by striped and hybrid bass, largemouth, crappie, bream and catfish.</p> <p>Besides the superb Lake Hartwell fishing, the park offers a basketball court, publicly accessible boat ramp and hiking. Every type of camping enthusiast will find a site that suits their needs for camping on Lake Hartwell. The park is one of a few in the state to offer the unique, single room camper cabins, which offer guests without camping gear an opportunity to experience the feel of camping on Lake Hartwell.</p> <p>Job Purpose and Duties:</p> <p>Performs duties requiring a basic level of skills necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, grounds keeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and the operation of a state park; assist park visitors.</p> <p>1) Performs basic facility and infrastructure maintenance, repairs and improvements and assists with more involved tasks and projects (including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.).</p> <p>2) Performs basic grounds maintenance and improvements and assists with more involved tasks and projects (including grounds keeping, landscaping, etc.).</p> <p>3) Performs maintenance and intermediate repairs on vehicles and motorized equipment.</p> <p>4) Assists in identifying maintenance needs, planning & scheduling maintenance activities, and maintaining applicable maintenance records.</p> <p>5) Practice and promote teamwork within the park and/or region, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.</p> <p>6) Assists with administrative, operational, and resource management requirements.</p> <p>7) Assists the Regional Maintenance Chief with region projects and tasks.</p> <p>8) Acquires licenses, certifications and actively participates in SPS Special Function Teams.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of general maintenance experience.</p> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <p>1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials and substances used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Position works flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.</p> <p>2) Knowledge of landscaping, gardening and grounds keeping. Knowledge of park policies, rules and regulations. Ability to understand technical manuals, bulletins and related instruction. Skill in the use of tools and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance and repair. Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computations.
