<p>Primary Function</p> <p>The Controlled Substance Compliance Pharmacy Specialist performs activities that support daily operations of the drug diversion prevention, detection, and response program. This individual works as part of a team to ensure continuous compliance and effective controls against drug diversion. Through comprehensive audits, medication reconciliation, education, regular inspections and inventory accountability, the diversion specialist will facilitate diversion/theft prevention and reduction programs. The Compliance Specialist supports all aspects of drug diversion education, prevention, monitoring, investigating and reporting at the following at all sites system wide where controlled substances are used.</p> <p>Job Qualifications/Specifications</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. MBA or equivalent Masters Degree preferred. </li><li>A registered pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island or eligible for state licensure </li><li>A minimum three years experience in pharmacy post graduation. A mix of retail and hospital pharmacy experience preferred. </li><li>Thorough understanding of medication management systems and technologies </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Experience in drug diversion prevention processes preferred. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills </li><li>Excellent public speaking and teaching abilities </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision </li><li>Proficient with computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of federal and state medication handling and controlled substances regulations </li><li>Familiarity with drug diversion-related standards and regulatory requirements, including the Medication Management standards of The Joint Commission, DEA, EPA and FDA regulations; and the relevant Conditions of Participation from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) </li><li>Familiarity with the causes, symptoms, recognition and treatment of drug addiction and human behavioral assessment </li><li>Previous experience in trending and analyzing data </li><li>Training in interview techniques preferred </li><li>Availability to work on site every day if needed </li></ul> <p>Care New England Health System (CNE) and its member institutions, Butler Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital, Kent Hospital, VNA of Care New England, Integra, The Providence Center, and Care New England Medical Group, and our Wellness Center, are trusted organizations fueling the latest advances in medical research, attracting top specialty-trained doctors, and honing renowned services and innovative programs to engage in the important discussions people need to have about their health.</p> <p>Americans with Disability Act Statement: External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job-specific functions either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation, to be determined by the organization on a case-by-case basis.</p> <p>EEOC Statement: Care New England is an equal opportunity employer.
