<p>The Department of Film and Media Arts within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach APH 267 Introduction to Analogue Photography and Darkroom, a three credit hour course, during the Fall semester 2025. There are two open sections.</p> <p>In-depth study of analog photographic techniques, such as analogue black and white film processing and printing. Understanding of the foundations of the history of art photography, and ability to present to and discuss with students.</p> <p>About the College of Visual and Performing Arts</p> <p>The College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University is committed to the education of cultural leaders who will engage and inspire audiences through performance, visual art, design, scholarship, and commentary. To learn more about the college, our distinguished faculty, and our program, please visit our websites at www.syr.edu, www.vpa.syr.edu.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>BFA degree, with a significant knowledge and study of photography, including studio photography and darkroom work. </li><li>College-level teaching experience and/or current program graduate student preferred. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Practicing artist with an understanding of the contemporary practice of art photography, thorough knowledge of analogue photographic practice and printing, including photo chemistry. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Candidate must be available to teach a studio course four hours every week during the semester, working from an existing syllabus, with amendments and modifications by the instructor. </li><li>Candidate must hold regular office hours, design assignments and grade them in a timely manner, lecture on the art historical foundations and practice of photography over the course of the semester, submit mid-semester progress reports and work well with students and other faculty. </li></ul> <p>In addition:</p> <ul> <li>Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. </li><li>Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. </li><li>Meeting all designated class periods. </li><li>If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.
