Sustained members of our team demonstrate accountable behavior and share our values of customer service, innovation, integrity, inclusion, financial stewardship, leadership and care.</p> <p>The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, schedules, educates, and influences volunteers to deliver the best care and services to hospice patients and families/care givers in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.</p> <p>Essential Activities and Tasks</p> <p>Operations Management - 50%</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintains and supports a robust volunteer program by increasing the volunteer pool and networking and creatively using and scheduling volunteers to support hospice patients and their families/caregivers and meet established goals for number of volunteer hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruits volunteers to meet patient and family/caregiver needs by developing community contacts and offering education about hospice care.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends and participates in interdisciplinary group meetings to assist in the development of an interdisciplinary group plan of care to meet identified needs and provides support to the interdisciplinary group.</p> </li><li> <p>Implements specialized volunteer programs, including Make It Happen, picture books, group volunteers, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs administrative duties such as completing reports, mailings, evaluations, and documentation, as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures volunteers submit documentation that is informative and descriptive of the services/care provided and of the patient's response to the care in a timely and accurate manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates and identifies changes and enhancements to the volunteer program through various means, including monthly reporting and analysis.</p> </li></ul> <p>People Management and Development - 25%</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervises all volunteers.</p> </li><li> <p>Fosters a positive work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates volunteers and employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Recruits, interviews, screens, selects, and orients new volunteers.</p> </li><li> <p>Defines, establishes, and promotes performance expectations so volunteers understand and demonstrate excellence through high quality and consistent performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates job performance of volunteers in accordance with the company policy and procedure and provides developmental guidance for improved performance and growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors accountability with organization requirements prescribed by the volunteer guidelines and engages volunteers who are routinely not observing these requirements in an effort to achieve compliance. Works with the Administrator when circumstances arise that necessitate further documentation and intervention.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in the development, planning, scheduling, conducting, and monitoring of in-service training programs, on-the-job training, and orientation programs for volunteers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Care and Relationship Management - 25%</p> <ul> <li> <p>Establishes a need for volunteer services with patients, families/caregivers, and location staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides information to individuals and community groups about the company's volunteer services and opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Delivers exceptional customer service by listening and responding to the needs of patients, families/caregivers, and staff members.</p> </li></ul> <p>All other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or equivalent required.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li> <p>Two years experience in a home health, hospice, long-term care, or other healthcare setting required.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience as a volunteer preferred and within hospice desired.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in a human services environment preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies as specified by insurance carrier underwriting standards.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions and Special Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Sitting - Up to 8 hours/day</p> </li><li> <p>Standing - Up to 8 hours/day</p> </li><li> <p>Walking - Up to 8 hours/day</p> </li><li> <p>Lifting, transferring, pushing or pulling residents/patients or equipment/supplies - Up to 50 pounds</p> </li><li> <p>Driving - Up to 6 hours/day</p> </li><li> <p>Work weekends, evenings, and holidays - As needed for coverage</p> </li><li> <p>On-call availability - Occasional</p> </li><li> <p>Subject to residents/patients with various disease processes - Occasional</p> </li><li> <p>May be exposed to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc. including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses - Work day</p> </li><li> <p>Risk Category for Exposure to Bloodborne Diseases - II</p> </li></ul>
