<p>Fire Assay - Sparks, NV</p> <p>Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Reporting to the Fire Assay Manager, the Fire Assay Technician is responsible for conducting analysis of mineral samples by fusion. This individual will operate fusion equipment and ensure all required calibration records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Load, pour and pound fusion in a safe manner </li><li>Proactively work as a team to oversee other team members' load and pour methods to ensure team safety </li><li>Carefully set up crucible for mixing and discard all crucibles that should no longer be in use </li><li>Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence </li><li>Perform and document quality checks at all stages of sample handling and halt production where necessary by Hold card </li><li>Operate fusion equipment and ensure all required calibration records are maintained </li><li>Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Mineralogical Technician position </li><li>Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE) </li><li>Other duties as assigned from time to time </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>NA </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of acquired skills required.</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, organization, and time management skills </li><li>Excellent multi-tasking skills </li><li>Able to work with other team-mates </li><li>Able to accept constructive criticism </li><li>Computer literate </li></ul> <p>Competencies</p> <p>The requirements listed below are competencies required to perform the job successfully.</p> <ul> <li>Following safe work protocol </li><li>Able to read and comprehend instruction and follow SOP </li><li>Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy </li><li>Safely perform physically demanding tasks with repeated lifting </li></ul> <p>Education, Certifications, and Experience (required)</p> <ul> <li>Minimum high school diploma </li><li>Post-secondary in science or chemistry is an asset </li><li>Previous experience in sample preparation or in a mineral processing lab environment considered an asset </li></ul> <p>Physical and Environmental Conditions</p> <p>The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
