The world runs on data. Data runs on STACK.</p> <p>THE POSITION:</p> <p>At STACK, the Indirect Tax Director is an essential part of the Tax Team. You will play an integral leadership role in the indirect tax function including implementing tax incentives strategy and managing tax incentives compliance and reporting for our data center investments in the United States and Canada. In this role, you will have tremendous opportunities to grow professionally.</p> <p>To be successful in this role, in addition to having strong technical tax knowledge, you will need to have excellent communications skills, strong attention to detail, be exceptionally organized, self-motivated, and a master problem-solver. You should be able to thrive in a fast-paced multitasking environment and easily adapt to change and rapid company growth. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for tax and customer service (external and internal).</p> <p>Key job responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with our Public Policy and Site Selection teams to identify, develop and negotiate indirect tax incentives for new data center developments. </li><li>Serve as STACK's technical resource for all indirect tax issues. </li><li>Work with our Investment and Construction Finance teams to budget and model indirect tax assumptions into underwriting models. </li><li>Work with our legal team on indirect tax provisions in customer or vendor agreements. </li><li>Manage complex sales & use tax incentive programs, including coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and complete reporting. </li><li>Improve existing processes and support STACK'S procurement function to ensure use tax compliance and proper application of sales tax incentives. </li><li>Manage all indirect tax compliance (US & Canada), tax audits and incentive process and reporting. </li><li>Monitor indirect tax landscape and legislative changes in markets where STACK operates. </li></ul> <p>THE DETAILS:</p> <ul> <li>Location: Denver, CO - In office </li><li>Travel: less than 10% </li><li>Compensation: $141,000 - $163,000 </li><li>Additional 20% Annual Discretionary Bonus </li><li>Benefits: Healthcare, Dental Care, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Paid Leave Programs </li><li>Must be eligible to work in the United States </li><li>Must pass comprehensive background and drug screening </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>BS in accounting/finance/economics, MS/Tax preferred </li><li>10 - 15+ years of work experience (public accounting and industry) in indirect tax </li><li>Experience with commercial real estate and data centers preferred </li><li>CPA preferred </li><li>Tax engine experience (Vertex, Avalara) preferred </li><li>State & local income/franchise, unclaimed property, or property tax experience is a plus </li><li>Canadian indirect tax experience is a plus </li><li>NetSuite experience is a plus </li><li>Must be proficient with Microsoft Office product suite, particularly Excel and Power Point </li><li>Detail-oriented </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills </li><li>Ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to various stakeholder groups </li><li>Team player - Enjoys collaborating and works well cross-functionally with other teams </li><li>Ability to execute, process, and prioritize tasks with minimal to no supervision </li><li>Proven success in creating efficiencies in processes and procedures </li></ul> <p>THIS MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:</p> <ul> <li>You enjoy being part of a team at a company that is fast growing and highly successful. </li><li>You have strong technical tax skills and are comfortable with complex transactions and a complicated legal entity structure. </li><li>You're a strong communicator who can speak and correspond effectively with various internal and external stakeholders. </li><li>You don't get flustered easily.
