<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>The Agency's mission is to be boldly innovative in improving the health and quality of life for South Carolinians.</p> <p>This is position is located in TPL Estate Recovery, Richland County.</p> <p>This is an in-office role and not a telecommute or remote position.</p> <p>Are you the One? We are looking for a Program Coordinator II who will seek recovery of healthcare costs paid by Medicaid from estates following federal and state regulations. Opens and maintains department Estate Recovery cases following approved department procedures. Under limited supervision, communicates with personal representatives, attorneys, family members, probate court personnel both orally and in writing.</p> <ul> <li>Review requests for information from family member(s), personal representative, attorney(s) and probate court personnel; responds appropriately in accordance with the department's policies and procedures. </li><li>Monitors case follow-ups daily to keep current. </li><li>Responsible for filing claims and actions with Probate Courts and collecting Medicaid expenditures from estates. </li><li>Researches tax documents, online records and other documents to determine estate values in order to prepare Estate Recovery demand packages for those cases that have not been received in probate. </li><li>Attends Probate Court hearings. </li><li>Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. </li></ul> <p>The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services offers an exceptional benefits package for FTE and TGE positions that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Health, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance for Employee, Spouse, and Children. </li><li>15 days annual (vacation) leave per year. </li><li>15 days sick leave per year. </li><li>13 paid holidays. </li><li>State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation Programs. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.</p> <p>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted with prior State Human Resources approval.</p> <p>Preferred: Legal Assistant/Paralegal.</p> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Lifting requirements: 20 lbs. </li><li>Valid driver's license. </li><li>In-office role. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with Probate Court systems and documents. </li><li>Case management. </li><li>Strong Communication skills. </li><li>Ability to understand legal documents such as deeds, petitions and other Judicial Indexes. </li><li>Attention to detail in reviewing documents and managing deadlines. </li><li>Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies pertinent to Estate Recovery and probate. </li><li>Knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to Medicaid. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Please complete the State application to include all current and previous work history and education.
