<p>Technology Services</p> <p>Network and Systems Administrator</p> <p>Cairn University Technology Services Department is inviting qualified individuals to apply for the position of Network and Systems Administrator. The position reports to the Director of Technology Services.</p> <p>The Technology Services department provides a smooth workflow to every department at Cairn and ensures a streamlined learning experience for each and every student, on and off campus. The responsibility of this department is to stay up-to-date on rapidly changing technology as well as to keep current technology up and running safely and smoothly. The Network and Systems Administrators has a hands-on role in managing and supporting hardware and software to ensure compliance with enterprise objectives and protocols.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains and supports computer hardware and software throughout the University; servers, workstations, monitors, printers, multifunction systems, network switches, routers, wireless network components, building access equipment, and ancillary devices. </li><li>Takes a lead role in maintaining and upgrading the University infrastructure. Including On-Prem Exchange, On-Prem Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online. </li><li>Provides leadership and technical expertise as a resource for planning and development of University solutions. </li><li>Collaborates to ensure the effective use of system resources; workstations, software applications, web-based applications, and network controls. </li><li>Contributes to multiple aspects of network administration; network and firewall security, server strategies, implementation of new applications, system upgrades, monitoring network traffic, enforcing compliance with anti-virus policies and system patches. </li><li>Responds as necessary to facilitate effective communication between the University and vendors for resolution of computer-related issues. </li><li>Contributes to the effective maintenance of departmental records, licensing, equipment inventory, policies and procedures, and infrastructure design. </li><li>Researches and recommends new products and technology that will promote the efficient use of University systems and technology. </li><li>Maintains a familiarity with all academic and administrative systems to assist as needed in the absence of Technology Services personnel. </li><li>Instructs students, faculty and staff in the use of technology for institutional computing and assures adherence to established policies. </li><li>Shall be on call 24/7; responding to urgent support needs as determined by the Director of Technology Services. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to plan and guide the development, installation, maintenance and support of computer systems. </li><li>Knowledge of PHP, SQL scripting, and database architecture. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. </li><li>Ability to instruct students, faculty and staff. </li><li>Good organizational skills. </li><li>Ability to make decisions, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental policy. </li><li>Ability to incorporate problem-solving principles into troubleshooting techniques. </li><li>Must discern when to function independently and when to contribute as a team member. </li><li>Possess and demonstrate effective English language skills in oral and written communication. </li><li>Accurate mathematical skills with a fluent knowledge of basic Algebra. </li><li>Shall be available for special projects as needed (i.e. off-hours cable installations, server maintenance, urgent support issues, etc.). </li></ul> <p>Required Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree in computer-related science or commensurate experience is required. </li><li>Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in computer technology directly related to responsibilities specified. </li><li>Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems and Internet architecture. Certifications are preferred but not required. </li><li>Hands-on experience in computer technology, including extensive knowledge of networking infrastructure, web architecture, system integration, and enterprise hardware software . </li><li>Experience with Unifi network solutions preferred. </li><li>The position requires logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel, while working effectively in a fast-paced, multitasking team-based environment. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workstation, using a computer and other office equipment. </li><li>Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, wiring, assembling, or repairing electronic equipment. </li><li>Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull computer equipment, peripherals, or boxes of supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. </li><li>Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to access equipment under desks, in server rooms, or in tight spaces. </li><li>Ability to climb ladders or step stools to install or access overhead cabling and equipment. </li><li>Visual acuity to read digital screens, technical diagrams, and manuals. </li><li>Auditory ability to hear and respond to end users, alarms, or signals in equipment or network environments. </li><li>Mobility to move between campus buildings and data center locations, sometimes multiple times per day. </li><li>Occasional extended hours or on-call availability during system maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies. </li><li>Sustained mental concentration and focus required to perform complex tasks, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment. </li><li>Ability to remain alert, composed, and professional while managing interruptions, shifting demands, and potentially high-stress or emotionally charged situations. </li><li>Capacity to work independently or collaboratively for extended periods while maintaining productivity and attention to detail. </li><li>Emotional resilience to handle sensitive information, provide support or service to diverse individuals, and adapt to evolving institutional needs. </li></ul> <p>This role is typically performed in an office, lab, or server room environment, with some work required in classrooms, residence halls, or outdoor campus areas depending on the task.</p> <p>Serving at Cairn University</p> <p>Located in Langhorne, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Cairn University exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated and professionally competent men and women of character.
