<p>Job Title: Medical Assistant</p> <p>Position: Medical Assistant</p> <p>Department: Oncology</p> <p>Hours/Week: 32 hours</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Under general supervision of the Director in an outpatient clinical setting, provides initial patient triage, patient intake services, assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.</p> <p>Performs the clerical duties and facilitates the smooth functioning of the patient care flow.</p> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to plan, organize, direct and control the flow of communication and tasks within the job duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision and with time limitations. </li><li>Ability to perform detailed assignments, work accurately, follow directions and assess priorities. </li><li>Good physical and mental health, able to assist with lifting and capable of working under pressure. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate sincere concern in caring for patients who are ill, and willing to be accountable for maintaining Day Kimball Healthcare's standards on confidentiality. </li><li>Ability to learn procedures and techniques involved in administrating basic patient care. </li><li>Possess good communication skills and ability to deal with patients, families, visitors, and peers with patience and tact. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Associates Degree in Medical Assisting preferred or current State of Connecticut C.N.A with equivalent practice experience. </li><li>Current CPR training required. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>One to three years' experience in clinical position required. </li><li>Prior computer experience required. </li><li>Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred. </li><li>Specialized training in handling chemo-therapy waste and linen preferred </li><li>Experience using Altos Electronic Medical Record a plus. </li></ul> <p>Day Kimball Healthcare is a non-profit, integrated medical services provider comprised of Day Kimball Hospital, healthcare centers in Danielson, Dayville, Plainfield and Putnam, Day Kimball HomeCare, Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern CT, Day Kimball HomeMakers, and Day Kimball Medical Group.
