<ol> <li> <p>Accurately transcribes physicians' orders; completes necessary forms, requisitions and communications necessary to implement orders.</p> </li><li> <p>Sustains proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate and complete patient records on assigned nursing units.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Initiates and assembles charts </li><li>Initiates and maintains Kardex </li><li>Initiates demographics </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li> <p>Maintains adequate quantity of forms, materials and supplies on assigned unit. Maintains reference materials such as policy and procedure manuals as requested.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds in a professional and courteous manner in all telephone and verbal communications skills with internal and external customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains patient chart in appropriate functional order as prescribed by hospital policy.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Files diagnostic and laboratory reports in appropriate chart in a timely manner. </li></ul> <ol start="9"> <li>Represents hospital in the community and within the hospital by </li></ol> <p>maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and</p> <p>by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services</p> <p>provided.</p> <ol start="10"> <li>Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or </li></ol> <p>requested.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read and write and communicate in english and the level of a high school senior. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems such as MEDITECH Admissions and PCI, or similar computer systems. </li><li>Keyboarding at 30 words per minute. </li><li>Successful completion of medical terminology course with a Grade C orbetter, or successfully pass medical terminology challenge exam with 80% or better. </li><li>Minimum six (6) months experience in patient registration, admitting, Emergency Center, nurse's aide, medical secretary, medical receptionist,or similar position. </li></ul>
