Coastal Prep provides an alternative educational environment that empowers adolescents in recovery while ensuring access to the academic instruction and resources necessary to meet high school graduation requirements. Coastal Prep is New Jersey's third recovery high school. For more information, please visit: https://coastalprephighschool.com/</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>The principal oversees the daily educational programming and instructional needs of students enrolled in the recovery high school. This role includes managing course schedules, ensuring alignment to graduation requirements, and monitoring student progress in collaboration with the district administrative office and each student's home district. The principal serves as an advocate for students, supporting both academic progress and recovery-focused goals.</p> <p>The principal works collaboratively with onsite recovery personnel, communicates regularly with the operating district and sending districts, and ensures students are maintaining progress in coursework. The individual will also provide instructional support and teach courses aligned with their certification, as needed.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Holds a New Jersey administrative certificate </li><li>Holds a New Jersey teaching certificate (secondary level preferred) </li><li>Demonstrated ability to oversee student course needs aligned to graduation requirements </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with program staff, home districts, district administration, parents, and students </li><li>Reports directly to the district administrative office </li></ul> <p>Skills, Knowledge, and Personal Qualities</p> <p>The successful candidate must possess strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Strong writing and technology skills are required. The individual should demonstrate the ability to encourage and support students engaged in recovery while maintaining high academic expectations. The position requires flexibility, empathy, and the ability to balance educational programming with recovery-focused supports.</p> <p>Hours: 7:30 AM 2:30 PM</p>
