<p>Summary: Plan, perform, organize, coordinate and participate in processing and auditing multiple payroll disciplines by performing the related duties and responsibilities. Providing consultation and advice to management on payroll, compliance, and emerging trends within payroll. Plan, perform, organize, coordinate and participate in long term and short-term business objectives in maintaining business and compliance needs.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate and participate in Quality Assurance audits to ensure compliance with labor laws and alert Payroll team of discrepancies </li><li>Manage and process monthly Bureau of Labor Statistic reporting </li><li>Research and coordinate process changes for Federal, State and Local regulation changes. Remaining current on payroll guidelines utilizing BNA, APA and CPA, and other payroll publications to ensure ongoing compliance with all payroll laws and regulations, interpreting polices and providing consultation or advice to management and implementing policies to maintain compliance. </li><li>Determine the sources of inaccuracies and develop and implement methods to prevent errors from reoccurring. </li><li>Directly supervise adherence to and enhance payroll policies and procedures in compliance with payroll standards and ensures adherence to payroll department performance metrics </li><li>Reporting as required for regulatory agencies, auditors, internal customers and litigation </li><li>Process various payrolls across the company spectrum </li><li>Provides direction and general payroll support to payroll staff, directly supervising 2-5 direct reports </li><li>Back up for stop payment and positive pay </li><li>Back up for quarterly Multiple Work Site reports </li><li>Other Special Projects as assigned by Director of Payroll and Payroll Manager </li><li>Train payroll team on payroll processing-related topics </li><li>Provides timely coaching/mentoring/feedback and completes performance reviews. </li><li>Serve as communication escalation liaison for field management (ranging from site manager to company president levels) in order to resolve payroll-related conflicts and provide assistance as needed in the following payroll-related areas: training, clarification of expectations, project/change, ad-hoc reporting, etc. </li></ul> <p>Competency:</p> <p>To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Judgment - Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process. </li><li>Professionalism - Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments. </li><li>Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. </li><li>Have knowledge of payroll accounting either through a previous accounting position or previous payroll experience. </li><li>Ability to work with interruptions. </li><li>Train new employees on correct payroll procedures and new concepts or procedures to tenured staff. </li><li>Able to effectively coach and counsel employees for improved performance. </li><li>Delegation -- ability to successfully delegate responsibility and authority while maintaining accountability. </li><li>Quantity - Completes work in timely manner. </li><li>Project Management - Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget. </li><li>Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. </li><li>Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments. </li><li>Design - Demonstrates attention to detail. </li><li>Analytical - Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures. </li><li>Technical Skills - Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares expertise with others. </li><li>Interpersonal - Maintains confidentiality; Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things. </li><li>Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Can accurately and concisely summarize issues. </li><li>Team Work - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Puts success of team above own interests; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed. </li><li>Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Varies writing style to meet needs; Able to read and interpret written information.
